Family-owned diamond, jewellery and watch retailer, The Beaverbrooks Group, has announced it will continue its longstanding tradition of not opening its 82 stores across the UK on Boxing Day and is urging other retailers to follow suit.

As the busy festive period approaches, the high street jeweller remains committed to putting its people first by giving colleagues the day off to spend time with family and friends – meaning every Beaverbrooks and Loupe store will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this December. In addition, the retailer will continue its tradition of gifting colleagues an extra week’s salary in December to show its appreciation.

The gesture comes following another successful year for the family-owned retailer, which has continued to invest in its people and wider business, forming part of The Beaverbrooks Group’s wider commitment to recognising and rewarding its colleagues, reflecting the important role they play in delivering the high level of service and expertise the retailer is known for.

Having always championed a people-first culture, Beaverbrooks was recognised as the Number 1 Best Retailer to Work For in the UK at the Best Companies Awards 2025 and placed 22nd in Best Companies to Work For in the UK. Previous honours include Employer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards 2026, and Professional Jeweller Awards 2026.

Anna Blackburn, Managing Director at The Beaverbrooks Group, said: “Strong family values have always been at the heart of our business, which is why it’s so important to us to give our colleagues some well-deserved time to relax and enjoy quality time with friends and family after a busy festive season.

We firmly believe that putting our colleagues first helps create a more engaged and motivated workforce, enabling our teams to deliver the exceptional service our customers know and trust us for. For 107 years, we’ve been proud to put our people at the heart of Beaverbrooks, and we’re delighted to continue this longstanding tradition of recognising and rewarding our colleagues.”
