The Metrocentre Partnership has announced a series of new openings at The Crescent, its 10,000 sq ft dedicated hub for independent retailers. Four brands are currently open and trading, with more set to arrive over the coming months, reflecting the quality of opportunity, growth, and success that Metrocentre can offer to independent occupiers.

The Crescent has welcomed a diverse mix of businesses since it opened in July, such as Webster & Carr, an award-winning modern apothecary, luxury barbershop, and styling lounge; Aqua TCG, a specialist Pokémon and trading card games shop; and Thatype, a boutique stocking a mix of jewellery and gifting.

Since opening, The Crescent has made a positive difference to the customer journey and footfall, highlighting the strength of the location and the direct impact of Metrocentre’s investment in creating a vibrant destination for independent retailers.

Noah Knapton, Asset Manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset managers of Metrocentre, said: “The demand for The Crescent so far reflects Metrocentre’s appeal as a destination where independent businesses have huge potential for growth, alongside some of the biggest names in retail and leisure. Supporting independent brands is a key part of our vision for Metrocentre, and by creating high-quality, flexible spaces, we’re helping small businesses scale while continuing to diversify the offer and enhance the experience for our customers.”

Mia Fang, Founder at Thatype, added: “Opening at The Crescent in Metrocentre is such an exciting milestone for us. I’ve always wanted jewellery shopping to feel fun, warm and accessible, which is why we offer our pieces across four different materials, so anyone can find something they love without breaking the bank. The Crescent is such a unique hidden gem away from the busy main areas, surrounded by lovely local indies. It’s the perfect, relaxed environment for our new home as we keep growing.”

The Crescent comprises 11 retail units and an enhanced mall environment, specifically designed to provide independent and emerging brands with a platform to establish and grow their businesses within a high-performing, region-leading destination. The white boxed units offer easy entry and flexible space, enabling occupiers to trade alongside an established line-up of international retail brands. It forms part of Metrocentre’s wider investment strategy, which is focused on continually enhancing the destination, supporting occupier success, and creating opportunities for businesses of all sizes.

This news follows the recent opening of Café Filto at The Crescent, which anchors the central kiosk space at the heart of the scheme. Café Filto serves a range of hot and cold drinks, with particular emphasis on its matcha specials, which include flavours such as Banana Bread, Mango Sticky Rice, Strawberry & Cream, and Lemon Glaze.
