Silverburn has scooped top honours at the Glasgow Business Awards, taking home the Best Performing Large Business award for the second year running as well as being awarded the Most Outstanding Business after a record-breaking 2025.
The dual win comes on the back of a year that saw Scotland’s leading retail destination attract 16.5 million annual visitors, the highest footfall in Silverburn’s 19-year history, and raise more than £110,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, the most raised by any retail partner in the city.
An independent study by EY reports that Silverburn generated £414 million of economic activity in 2025, reinforcing its status as a key driver of growth in West Central Scotland. For every £1 spent directly in the centre, a further £5.70 is generated across the wider region.
Silverburn’s success has continued into 2026, attracting an impressive international brand mix and firsts for Glasgow and Scotland including Sephora, Vyve and Harli + Harpa. The commercial momentum has continued too, with footfall up 12 percent, total sales up 56 percent and like-for-like sales up 9 percent to the end of May.
Further positive impact can be seen in the employment market, where Silverburn is responsible for sustaining 8,713 jobs across Scotland. For every person directly employed by Silverburn, a further five jobs are generated through indirect and induced effects across the economy.
The centre also demonstrated its commitment to operational excellence, from chemical-free cleaning across all areas, zero waste to landfill, and a 46 percent cut in electricity consumption over a decade. It’s also accredited as a Real Living Wage employer, embedding a people-first culture into everything it does.
Diarmuid Donohoe, General Manager at Silverburn, said: “These wins are recognition of what a talented and dedicated team can achieve with a clear vision: to be Scotland’s leading retail and leisure destination. The numbers are strong, but what matters most is that our guests choose to come back time and time again, picking Silverburn as their destination of choice for shopping, eating out and enjoying time with friends and family.
We’ve invested in our retail spaces, established relationships with global brands, created experiences that go beyond shopping, and built a workplace culture where our people can thrive. That combination is proving powerful and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved in making Silverburn what it is today.”
The Glasgow Business Awards ceremony, run by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Fred MacAulay, took place on Thursday 1st October.
