St James Quarter has announced that schuh, the Edinburgh-founded fashion footwear retailer, is to launch its Scottish flagship at the leading destination. Opening on Level 1 of the Galleria, the brand will add further diversity to the Quarter’s broad mix of tenants, reinforcing its position as Edinburgh’s prime pitch and taking Level 1 to 100 percent let, also following a 9 percent boost to retail sales year-on-year in 2024.

schuh’s St James Quarter store will open in May in a 5,500 sq ft space adjacent to the host of other high street names on Level 1. The store will offer the latest products from over 80 footwear brands. It will also feature schuh’s revamped store concept and enhanced shopping experience, including state-of-the-art digital screens to spotlight schuh’s latest campaigns. Dedicated to enhancing the in-store experience, the store will feature a redesigned layout, improved navigation, and updated product displays, with every detail designed to ensure each visit is seamless, welcome, and tailored to customers’ needs.

The new store will be unveiled in collaboration with iconic sportswear brand ASICS, offering an immersive, wellness-inspired retail experience rooted in ASICS ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’ philosophy. The space will invite customers to explore the latest sneaker collections through a multi-sensory journey featuring ambient soundscapes and soft, warm lighting. An interactive breathwork guide will also add a moment of mindfulness, encouraging visitors to slow down and reconnect.

Chris Pyne, Leasing Director for St James Quarter, commented: “schuh is a great addition to St James Quarter, adding even more choice to our comprehensive retail offer that is now Scotland’s go-to location for leading UK and international brands. For a brand with depth in Scotland to choose the Quarter for its launch of a brand-new concept store underlines the confidence retailers have in St James Quarter as the number one retail destination in Scotland.”

Neil Partington, Chief Retail Offer at schuh, added: “Scotland is at the heart of schuh – the birthplace of the business. Edinburgh, in particular, has always been a pivotal location for us, as the city where it all began. St James Quarter offers a prime opportunity to showcase our bold retail approach. With a curated selection of must-have brands and a commitment to exceptional customer service, schuh remains the go-to destination for footwear shopping in the capital.”
