Danish lifestyle brand Søstrene Grene has announced it will open a new store in Cambridge’s Grand Arcade, marking the next step in its growing UK expansion. Known for its Scandinavian-inspired design, affordable homewares and distinctive sense of ‘hygge’, the brand will soon bring its unique shopping experience to the historic university city.

Cambridge shoppers will soon be able to discover Søstrene Grene’s carefully curated world of homewares, kitchen essentials, craft supplies, soft furnishings and seasonal décor. Rooted in minimalist Scandinavian design, the collection is refreshed weekly, offering new ways to bring simple, stylish touches into everyday living

Located within Cambridge’s Grand Arcade, the new store has been created as more than just a place to shop. Guests will be welcomed into a calming, sensory environment shaped by soft lighting, classical music and Søstrene Grene’s signature labyrinth-style layout. Designed to encourage a slower pace, the concept reflects the Danish tradition of ‘hygge’, offering a moment of escape and creativity within the city.

Mikkel Grene, Group CEO and Co-owner of Søstrene Grene, comments: “We are excited to bring Søstrene Grene to Cambridge. Every store we open is designed to be a space where people can discover carefully crafted products and enjoy a calm, inspiring shopping experience. Our aim is to make thoughtful Scandinavian design accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

With more than 350 stores across 17 markets, the global presence continues to grow alongside ambitious UK expansion plans, including opening 100 new stores by 2027.

UK Partners, Norma Jacob and Richard Power, run Søstrene Grene stores across Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and the South of England.

Norma Jacob comments: “This will be our first store in Cambridgeshire and we are excited to bring our products to a new community. We have seen how well customers respond to our stores in nearby regions and it is incredibly rewarding to share our design-led, accessible homewares with a new audience.”

Richard Power adds: “Cambridge is a city with a rich mix of history and innovation, making it an ideal home for Søstrene Grene. We are excited to introduce our carefully curated collection and immersive store experience to a city that values design, creativity and thoughtful living.”

Martin Macwhinnie, Grand Arcade Centre Manager, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Søstrene Grene to Grand Arcade. This beautiful brand is a wonderful addition to our retail mix, and our customers have already shown great enthusiasm for its arrival on social media. It brings an offering that Cambridge was missing; from nature-inspired decoration to everything you need for creative DIY projects, for life’s big and small moments, all year round. We also value how the brand’s distinctive design and warm in-store atmosphere will resonate with our shoppers.”

The official opening date of Søstrene Grene at Cambridge’s Grand Arcade will be announced very soon.
