On Sunday 27th April 2025, two One Stop store colleagues partnered up with determination to run the 2025 TCS London Marathon – all in aid for Young Lives vs Cancer.
Colleagues, Chris Wilby, a driver from the convenience retailer’s Distribution Centre in Nursling and Debbie Lovelock, Store Manager at Oundle Road, Thrapston One Stop store powered through the exhilarating experience and jointly raised a fantastic £24,045 for Young Lives vs Cancer!
Distribution Centre driver, Chris Wilby said: “Running the marathon was quite emotional for me, I felt both nervous and excited at the same time but all the unbelievable support before and during the marathon really encouraged me to keep going. I would like to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and donations for Young Lives vs Cancer as well as the charity for giving me the opportunity to be able to challenge myself and raise money for an incredible purpose.”
Young Lives vs Cancer has been one of One Stop’s charity partners since 2022. The charity aims to support young cancer patients and their families to receive the right necessary support throughout their cancer journey.
Young Lives vs Cancer expressed their appreciation towards the One Stop colleagues who took part. Nilesh Patel, Partnerships Fundraiser at Young Lives vs Cancer commented: “We cannot thank Chris and Debbie enough for their amazing efforts and taking on the challenge of a lifetime for Young Lives vs Cancer. A marathon is a journey and both of them have shown the resilience needed to complete one, especially in the conditions they faced on the day!
For every step they took and pound they raised alongside family, friends and colleagues they have helped to fund the vital work Young Lives vs Cancer provides for children and young people facing cancer and their families across the UK.”
One Stop head office colleagues and Brownhills Distribution Centre colleagues helped contribute to the total by holding a tombola.
Jack Taylor, Community and Partnerships Manager at One Stop, commented: “We are so grateful and proud of our colleagues who ran this years, TCS London Marathon. It was a tough day for all but with their incredible perseverance, they both passed the finish line in honour of raising money for such an important cause.”
