This Sunday, 26th April, Iceland Foods Group Chief Executive Tarsem Dhaliwal will take on the London Marathon in support of the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation (IFCF), with fundraising already surpassing £125,000, including a personal pledge to contribute 50p for every £1 donated, up to £50,000.
The funds raised will directly support impactful projects across the IFCF’s core focus areas: children, wellbeing, the environment, and dementia.
This year, the Foundation has one shared purpose – to support families, strengthen communities and secure futures. Through this work, they can continue to deliver support that genuinely changes lives, provide practical help where it’s needed most, and stand behind smaller charities whose vital work makes a meaningful difference for families every single day.
On the day colleagues from Iceland’s Greenwich store will also be showing their support with dedicated window displays and branded T‑shirts, cheering Tarsem on at a cheer point along the route outside the store.
As a Trustee of the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation, Tarsem has been training intensively for the marathon and sharing his journey through regular training anecdote updates to keep colleagues and supporters engaged.
Alongside his training Tarsem has also played an active role in IFCF’s charity work over the past year, including visiting Prostate Cancer UK laboratories, supporting the distribution of awareness materials with the UK Sepsis Trust, and taking part in life‑saving conversations with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
The marathon effort has brought together colleagues and suppliers across Iceland’s network. Long‑standing supply partner HH Global will be running alongside Tarsem in support of IFCF, reflecting the foundation’s strong, collaborative partnerships in support of good causes.
Tarsem Dhaliwal OBE, Group Chief Executive of Iceland Foods and Trustee of the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation, said: “Taking on the London Marathon has been a big challenge for me, particularly as I’m not a runner and never have been, but it represents what it means to be an active trustee. It’s about truly understanding the work our charity partners do, standing shoulder to shoulder with them, and using every platform we have to help them reach more people.
“I’m incredibly proud of the funds raised so far and of the support shown by our colleagues, suppliers and partners across the business. Together, we are helping to shine a light on vital causes and make a real, lasting difference in communities across the UK.”
IFCF trustees are actively embedded in the foundation’s work, playing a hands‑on role in supporting charity partners, understanding their challenges first‑hand, and championing their causes both internally and externally.
