
The Portman Estate has announced the signing of new impressive culinary offerings, alongside diverse global and British brands, elevating the customer experience for workers, residents and visitors of Portman Marylebone. These recent additions reflect how the Estate continues to establish Marylebone’s coveted status among leading hospitality and retail brands, as the evolution of The Portman Estate’s portfolio goes from strength to strength.
Angela Hartnett OBE, one of the UK’s leading chefs, has opened Cafe Murano Marylebone at 52 – 55 Dorset Street, spanning across 3,500 sq ft. Having first opened its doors on St. James Street in 2013, this marks Angela’s fourth Cafe Murano site. Hartnett offers diners the taste of seasonal Italy in a relaxed, unfussy environment, featuring an Italian-inspired breakfast menu for the first time and exclusive dishes at the Marylebone restaurant.
On the opening, Angela Hartnett shared, “This is a really special moment for the team and I. Marylebone is an area we’ve been eager to open in for some time and seeing it all come together has been incredibly exciting.”
Launching in September at 40 – 42 Chiltern Street, Maset is the latest venture from Melody Adams, the restaurateur behind long-standing Michelin Guide restaurants Lurra and Donostia on Seymour Place. Maset will be an all-day restaurant on the iconic red-bricked street, introducing a vibrant Mediterranean dining experience. Offering an authentic take on cuisine from the Occitan and Provençal region from breakfast through to dinner, the restaurant will showcase top-tier, seasonal ingredients from both land and sea.
Cafe Murano and Maset will enhance The Portman Estate’s Chiltern Street holdings with two fantastic all-day dining venues. This bolstered food and beverage offering, bringing two new and diverse cuisines to the area, will complement the curated boutique retail and café culture that Chiltern Street is well-known for.
Fire & Wine by Boxcar is a new neighbourhood restaurant in Marylebone, centred around cooking over fire, low-intervention wines and ingredient led menus. The site, located at 23 New Quebec Street, is a new addition to the Boxcar Group, led by Ankur Wishart andBarry Hirst, who are also co-founders of Open House London and The Italian Greyhound.
Leading the kitchen is Head Chef Zisis Gkalmpenis, whose cooking reflects both his Southern European roots and experience in some of London’s most respected kitchens, including Michelin-starred Pied à Terre, CORD by Le Cordon Bleu and The Greyhound in Beaconsfield. His approach is produce-first, shaped by the open grill that sits at the heart of the kitchen.
Wine is a central part of the Fire & Wine experience, with a list focused on sustainable, small-scale producers across Europe, all chosen to complement the bold, elemental cooking.
Emmy London has recently opened a new flagship boutique at 3 New Quebec Street. Led by the dynamic husband-and-wife duo, Emmy and Dickie, this distinguished British luxury lifestyle brand creates exquisite footwear and accessories. It will join other independent designers including Suzannah London, Isabel Manns, John Boyd Hats and William Crabtree and Sons, cementing New Quebec Street as a haven for quintessentially British fashion.
Over on Chiltern Street Dutch lifestyle brand Anna + Nina has now opened its first UK store in Portman Marylebone, located at 54 Chiltern Street. With an eye-catching red frontage, the 800 sq ft unit is a new milestone for the brand, which has stores open internationally across Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp. Founded in 2012 as a jewellery brand, Anna + Nina has since expanded its offering to clothing and homeware.
Los Angeles-based luxury eyewear brand Jacques Marie Mage has also opened its first UK standalone store at 20-22 Chiltern Street. Comprising 1,200 sq ft, the double-fronted flagship location is designed by renowned architect and interior designer Jacques Garcia. Its lifestyle offering includes jewellery and accessories, combining sophisticated design with ethical business practices.
