Eldon Square, a premier shopping, leisure and dining destination in Newcastle, has announced that Japanese dining favourite, Maki & Ramen, will open its doors at the centre this summer.
Launched 10 years ago with a mission to make high-quality Japanese dining more accessible, Maki & Ramen continues to bridge the gap between high-end sushi restaurants and grab-and-go convenience. The brand has grown a strong regional footprint with locations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds, and the new 3,150 sq ft restaurant at Eldon Square marks its tenth UK opening, and its first in the North East.
Located on Old Eldon Square, the restaurant will feature Maki & Ramen’s iconic Sakura blossom ceilings, rose gold accents, a full sushi bar, traditional Japanese menu, and Japanese-inspired cocktails, designed to create an immersive, experience-led dining offering.
Rebecca Cuthbertson, Marketing Lead, Maki & Ramen, commented: “Eldon Square was the perfect location for our tenth restaurant. It’s central, full of energy, and gives us the opportunity to introduce our food to as many people as possible. At Maki & Ramen, community and good food are at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about making Japanese cuisine accessible, welcoming and fun, and can’t wait to become part of the fabric of Newcastle’s vibrant city centre.”
Kitty Vaughan, Head of UK Leisure and F&B Leasing, Pradera Lateral, said: “We’re proud to have secured the first North East branch of Maki & Ramen for Eldon Square. Their unique, high quality offering adds another exciting layer to our growing food and drink line-up and plays a key role in our mission to make Newcastle a vibrant, modern and must-visit city centre destination, while continuing to attract high-performing, experience-led brands to the centre.”
The opening reflects a broader period of momentum for Eldon Square, following the launch of a refreshed brand identity and a renewed and concentrated focus on delivering a curated retail and leisure environment that reflects the evolving needs of visitors and brands alike.
