Scandi Chic has Landed in Liverpool as JYSK Opens its Biggest Store in the UK

Danish home retailer has now launched its biggest store in the UK at Liverpool’s Hunts Cross Retail Park

JYSK has opened its first Liverpool store on 17thOctober 2020. Situated at Hunts Cross Retail Park, the people of Liverpool will now be able to have their first taste of Danish design in the biggest JYSK store in the UK. With Liverpool being one of the most popular shopping destinations in the North West, the location was the perfect choice for JYSK’s newest and largest store. Not only has the store brought affordable Scandi-chic to Liverpool but also some great career opportunities for the local area with 16 new jobs.

The new JYSK Liverpool store launched despite the challenges that the COVID-19 high alert brought. Jenny Johnston, JYSK Sales and Marketing Manager, UK & Ireland explains “With Liverpool being a high-alert area for COVID-19 we were sure to make the launch as safe as possible for all our staff and customers. Strict social distancing measures were adhered to, along with handwashing stations around the store and all staff and visitors acknowledging the face covering rule, as a company we are learning to adapt to the new world we live in. The launch day was full of excitement with customers enjoying our opening day offers in a COVID safe way.”

The newest store launch comes at a time when a huge proportion of the population is at home more than ever before. As a result, many of us are choosing to invest in our living spaces, instead of going out or on holiday. With the near future of the high street and bricks and mortar stores looking less than certain, it might seem like a bold move to open a new store during a pandemic, but JYSK are confident that the homes and interiors sector will not only survive but also thrive. The decision to expand in the UK comes off the back of a record global turnover and a UK-wide trend that has seen homewares sales soar.

Liverpool is the first store to open as part of JYSK’s upcoming UK expansion plans, with another 6 store launches by the end of August 2021 taking the UK total to an ambitious 26.

“The sky really is the limit for JYSK and we remain committed to our expansion plans even in the current climate,” says Jenny. Globally, JYSK has almost 3000 stores.

Store Manager, Victoria Bostock, who has lived in Liverpool her whole life, discusses the opening weekend “We are so delighted to welcome JYSK to Liverpool and so far, the reception has been brilliant! With all that is going on customers were happy to see something opening rather than closing and I am so excited to be a part of a company that continues to develop and grow. Staff and customer safety is of the upmost importance to us and we have been adhering strictly to the safety regulations, although it’s not hard to social distance in a 1350sqm, double level store. I can’t wait to see how the store develops as more Liverpool customers come to visit us for fantastic deals on our beautiful, affordable homewares.”
