Move comes as it launches new app for trade and DIY customers
Yesterday, Toolstation celebrated its 500th UK branch in New Malden, Surrey. It’s the latest opening as part of Toolstation’s accelerated expansion programme, which in a challenging 2020 saw the multi-channel business open at least one new branch every week and sees the retailer continue that pace this year.
It means that Toolstation is on track to open over 60 branches in 2021 and the roll-out will see it create over 450 job opportunities in 2021. The brand currently employs 5,000 colleagues in the UK.
The news comes as Toolstation launches their brand new customer app providing the quickest and easiest way for trade and DIY customers to shop with Toolstation. Once signed in, the app has been designed to help customers find and order from over 22,000 products with real-time stock-availability. Customers can choose to Click & Collect from 5 mins at their nearest branch or deliver to site or home. The highly rated app (currently rated 4.8/5 stars in the App Store) also offers a range of payment options including Apple/Google pay for speedy checkout.
The app will mean Trade Credit customers can fully manage their accounts on the go. At the tap of a button, they can pay for orders, check their credit account, pay balances and download invoices. It also boasts a unique QR code for fast customer check-out in store by simply presenting it at the till to share their account details.
James MacKenzie, Managing Director for Toolstation, said; “To have grown so rapidly over the past few years is testament to both our colleagues and customers. The opening of our 500th store is the latest milestone in our expansion plans and like all Toolstation stores it will benefit from Trade Credit and the launch of our app.
“The app will help make it easier for our customers to work smarter and quicker by ordering to their nearest site or home and manage their accounts from their pocket. At just the tap of a button, they will be able to check their credit accounts, pay balances and download their invoices, which means they can quickly wave goodbye to large amounts of paperwork.”
Toolstation’s range of products available online and through the catalogue has been extended by a further c.1,800 products. New ranges are primarily trade-focused and following the addition of Hawksmoor landscaping products, Toolstation now also offers six own exclusive brands.
Alongside the branch expansion programme and new app, Toolstation continues to maintain its market-leading value proposition which has been enhanced by the introduction of a Trade Credit proposition for its customers. Customers benefit from a flexible credit limit and up to 60 days to pay.
The retailer has also teamed up with the Volunteer It Yourself (VIY) social enterprise for a second time and this project will see the team give something back to the New Malden community. 30 young people will be involved in updating the kitchen and cafe space at the nearby YMCA Dickerage, a busy community building in New Malden.
Toolstation New Malden will be open seven days a week, from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sundays.
The Toolstation New Malden store is located at 74-76 Combe Road, New Malden, KT3 4QS.
