thortful – Proud Sponsors of Gratitude

thortful is delighted to be supporting Gratitude this year, a spectacular outdoor public art installation which commemorates and celebrates the stories of an extraordinary moment in time.

The image, during the first wave of the pandemic, of key workers standing together, but apart, is one of the abiding images of our times – each worker socially distancing and standing apart, while at the same time showing a unique coming together. Gratitude is a spectacular outdoor public art installation which commemorates and celebrates the stories of this extraordinary moment in time.

Launching in Birmingham on 20 August 2021, ahead of a free to visit tour across the UK, Gratitude brings together 51 uniquely-designed human form sculptures, all designed by individual artists and sponsored by different businesses who want to acknowledge key workers and pay tribute to the NHS.

The thortful sculpture was designed by Ella Williams-Brown, one of the thortful’s creative community & is entitled ‘A moment to be thortful’. The design comprises three elements: the willow tree representing suffering, new growth and strength. The thortful bees delivering thanks & gratitude to the NHS and a wild flower meadow, depicting the colours of the NHS rainbow, featuring Tulips, Daisies, Forget-me-nots & Pansies symbolising faith, innocence, memories, courage, strength, love, thoughtful recollection & caring.

After touring the UK the sculptures will be auctioned in autumn 2021 with substantial proceeds donated to NHS Charities Together (Registered Charity Number 1186569), which will support the NHS, including its hospitals, ambulance services, community and mental healthcare providers and vital partnerships. Andy Pearce CEO and founder of thortful comments ‘at thortful we’re passionate about design and creativity so we’re very proud to be sponsoring Gratitude at thortful and even more delighted that our statue was designed by one of our inhouse design team. At the outset of 2021 we made a commitment to support NHS Charities Together we have so far raised £140,000. I hope the auction of the statues raises even more vitally needed funds’

The exhibition is free to visit and will be in the following locations:
