Studio launches bid to train a generation of Digital Mums

Partnership with leading social enterprise, will give 20 out-of-work mums a chance to gain digital training for free

Studio.co.uk, the online value retailer has teamed up with social media training company, Digital Mums, to offer women around the country the life-changing opportunity to train as social media managers.

The first Studio Social Media Management course will select 20 mums*, who have been out of the workplace for at least two years (including maternity leave), to obtain the necessary skills and experience to become social media managers and content creators, for free.

From Facebook to Instagram, Twitter parties to Trello, successful applicants will learn the essential elements for running effective campaigns, by developing their very own, which can be focused on anything from fashion to interiors. 

Digital Mums social media management course usually costs approximately £2,500, but as part of its vision to support digital skills development, Studio will be investing in this training for the chosen group of mums.

Founded by Nikki Cochrane and Kathryn Tyler in 2013, Digital Mums upskill women with in-demand social media and digital skills, so they can find rewarding and flexible careers. With a 92 percent success rate, graduates have gone on to pursue a range of digital careers, from becoming social media consultants to finding roles with some of the nation’s biggest brands.

Figures have shown that maternal discrimination in the workplace was still a huge problem preventing women from returning to rewarding work. Likewise, the Women And Work Commission found that unleashing women’s full potential could be worth £23 billion a year to the Exchequer.
