Redemption Bar Relaunches in Seven Dials with a New Menu and Head Chef

Shaftesbury has announced that vegan restobar, Redemption, relaunched its Seven Dials site on Monday 28th September with a brand new Head Chef and menus. Erich Ribeiro joins Redemption Bar’s founder, Catherine Salway, and new owners, Alex and Saiphin Moore (Rosa’s Thai Cafe, Lao Cafe, Ceviche), in revitalising the popular health-oriented hub and diversifying its food and drink menus to incorporate a balance of healthy and indulgent options.

The stylish West End site at 15 Shorts Gardens backs onto Neal’s Yard – Seven Dials’ colourful corner of hidden independent shops – and is the perfect place to discover delicious, plant-based food, a couple of cocktails (alcohol-free and boozy), and Instagram-worthy interiors seven days a week.

The new and improved Redemption Bar continues to focus on vegetables, and the infinite ways in which they can be spiced and cooked to create guilt-free taste sensations. From simple yet satisfying starters and sides such as broad bean and avocado hummus with cassava shards and toasted amaranth seeds (£6.50), bbq cauliflower wings (£7) and lemon & pumpkin mac and cheese (£6), to larger main options including Brazilian tofish moqueca (£15), a Brussels sprouts and purple kale winter Caesar salad (£12), bbq pulled jackfruit with smashed avo, chipotle carrot cheese, tapioca chard and pitta bread ( £14), and a vibrant selection of nutritious bowls (£11-£12), Erich’s mouth-watering new plant-based menu has something for everyone. For dessert, lemon polenta cake with vanilla cream, dried strawberries and purple corn ice cream (£5.50) – as well as other intriguing combinations – also graces the menu.

Redemption Bar is widely known for its refreshing take on alcohol-free drinks, and the bar will pick up where it left off, with a selection of stunning mocktails, including a Cucumbertini and Apple Mockito, along with smoothies and juices, named Retrieval, Repossession, Rescue and Recovery, which are all priced between £5.50 and £7.50. From next week, the innovative drinks offering will also include some alcoholic options for the very first time, with wine, beer and concoctions such as coconutty Espresso Martini (£9.95) and the beetroot and carrot Redemption Bloody Mary, with grated horseradish and smoked plum infused quinoa vodka, making an appearance (all vegan, of course).

Julia Wilkinson, Restaurant Director at Shaftesbury commented: “Since its launch, Redemption’s flagship Seven Dials site has been such a fundamental part of our dining offer and has drawn many visitors for its philosophy, atmosphere and menu. It’s fantastic to see the concept re-launching post-lockdown with new dimensions added to enhance Redemption’s truly unique offering.  Alongside Seven Dials Market, 26 Grains, and all other re-opened operators in the area, we look forward to supporting Redemption in this exciting new chapter.”

New Head Chef, Erich, enjoys a plant-based diet and lifestyle, and has a wealth of culinary experience under his belt. He worked as Production Kitchen Chef Manager for the Deliciously Ella cafes, where he was instrumental in pioneering healthy dishes for all three locations, as well as cooking at restaurants such as Wulf & Lamb; creative, vegan cuisine in Chelsea. Overseen by renowned chef & author Saiphin Moore, Erich has created a selection of new menus, including the addition of brunch and Sunday roast dishes. The establishment’s sustainable ethos will stay the same.

Redemption’s reopening coincides with the implementation, in partnership with Camden Council, of timed road closures throughout Seven Dials which are in operation from 10am – 6pm to ensure safe social distancing for pedestrians. Neal’s Yard has also adopted a one-way foot traffic system, and additional cycling parking spaces are also available to the public.
