PervasID showcases RFID capability examples in Retail in new Customer Experience Centre in St. John’s Innovation Centre

PervasID, an award-winning RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology provider, today announces the opening of its new Customer Experience Centre in St. John’s Innovation Centre which will showcase uses for RFID in the retail, healthcare and industrial sectors.

The Customer Experience Centre will be aimed at customers, partners, system integrators and prospects to demonstrate the system’s capabilities in real situations and the technology’s 99 percent-plus tag detection accuracy.

The Customer Experience Centre will house all PervasID products, including its latest Multi-Ranger, which combines all PervasID systems, namely Space Ranger (wide-area passive RFID system) Security Ranger (anti-theft RFID system) and Portal Ranger (a doorway RFID system), into a multifunctional reader system that is the first of its kind because it overcomes multiple challenges experienced by retailers and other industries from a single integrated solution.

PervasID’s Multi-Ranger product has addressed retailers’ challenges concerning inventory. The new Customer Experience Centre mimics a typical retail environment – a back storage room, a sales area and an entrance/exit area. Prospective customers will be able to see the accuracy of the RFID tags and view stock inventory from when it enters the store, when it is sold and when it leaves. There are also alarms in the environment to demonstrate how shrinkage can be reduced if an item is not sold at the checkout, but is then flagged as someone tries to leave store exit, therefore highlighting the security capabilities.

Dr Sabesan Sithamparanathan, co-founder and CEO of PervasID, comments, “RFID technology is not new to the retail market, but the investment case for widespread use of the technology beyond security has been insufficient for many store owners. Our Customer Experience Centre aims to demonstrate the use of this product in as realistic environment as possible and show how retailers can embrace the benefits of RFID technology with a relatively low Capex and a quick implementation time, transforming the way they manage their inventory.”

He continues, “Prospective customers want demonstration of ROI at the outset of the sales process. At PervasID we are really proud to be working on technology that has a return on investment and to prove it through our Customer Experience Centre.”
