Northern Flags and FaberExposize UK Completes multi-million-pound relocation

Leeds based Fabric print specialist Northern Flags and sister company FaberExposize UK have completed their relocation to Millshaw in Leeds over the Christmas break. Investing over £1 million into new digital printers alongside a substantial property investment they have created the most modern facility of it’s kind in the UK, four times the size of their previous premises.

The investment sees the company expand beyond specialist Fabric production of Flags, Point of Sale and Sport and Events branding into a wide range of new products such as vinyl, display boards, stickers, branded interiors free standing displays and signage offering clients a full branding and POS solution.

The company, which historically acted as an independent sales office for Faber Group print facilities in Europe and Thailand, only started UK printing 2 years ago with an investment in 2, D-Gen inline fixation Dye Sub printers. This was supplemented by a Durst Omega printer and a HP latex printer.

“The UK operation was incredibly successful and allowed us to shorten lead times and add increasing flexibility and new products to our offer. We soon realised that we had been too cautious in our initial investment and had outgrown our historic basesaid Iain Clasper-Cotte, Managing Director “we recognised we needed far larger capacity and width capability of at least 3.2M. The Group already has 4, 5M wide UV printers but the majority of demand we had would be accommodated by 3.2M printers and more specialist cutting solutions. We did the usual manufacturer beauty parade and decided to adopt a different strategy to our sister companies, which have been Europe’s largest Durst customer over the past 2 years, by investing in Agfa’s new Avinci fabric printer and the largest Anapurna Hybrids.”

As part of the agreement with Agfa, FaberExposize UK carried out a comprehensive profiling process pre-and post-delivery of the Avinci.

“The great thing about the team at Agfa was we felt they spoke our language. The initial off the shelf profiles were very impressive but we have previously worked with them and their teams in Belgium and Leeds, to launch a whole new range of Flag and Backlit display fabrics that deliver remarkable accuracy and impact. This success means we have already started to negotiate for an additional Avinci to arrive in February as customers have been blown away by the quality”.

Over the past few years the company, with the support of one of its largest investor FaberExposize, has expanded substantially away from its historic position as one of the UK’s leading Flag producers into arguably the UK’s fastest growing Wide Format Suppliers.

“We were fortunate that with FaberExposize’s support we could rapidly enter new markets using their international network of print factories to ensure that we then invested in the print machinery required for our expanded client base” Iain Clasper-Cotte, MD continued. “Our reputation for excellence in print allowed us to rapidly expand our offering with both our existing customers and many new National and International Brands. Bringing more capacity ahead of Brexit also allows us business certainty for the UK Market, and flexibility for our International Clients through our facilities in Poland, Germany, France and Holland”

The new state-of-the-art print hub will offer UV, Dye Sublimation and Latex wide format printing and can print on all materials up to 3.2M wide. The extensive warehouse facilities also enable a dedicated pick and pack distribution service for major client’s promotional campaigns.
