Maidenhead’s Waterside Quarter Development secures first lettings

Commercial property owner, asset manager and developer Sorbon Estates has announced three lettings as part of its mixed-use development, Waterside Quarter, in the heart of Maidenhead’s town centre: eclectic eatery Lounges, state-of-the-art training studio F45 and artisan deli and restaurant Sauce & Flour.

Backed by celebrity shareholder Mark Wahlberg, training brand F45 has over 1,750 studios in 45 countries across the world and is opening its newest in Waterside Quarter.  Informal café bar brand Lounges, will open the ‘Bardo Lounge’, introducing its focus on fresh produce and eccentric interiors to the town.  Sauce & Flour offers home-made pastas, sauces, and bread, bringing an Authentic Mediterranean feel to Maidenhead’s new food quarter.

The development of Waterside Quarter is the next stage of Maidenhead town centre’s transformation, with Coppa Club and Bakedd already in place.  The development has been carefully designed to create a stylish new restaurant, retail and leisure quarter, as well as 260 new homes, situated alongside Maidenhead’s attractive rejuvenated waterways.  The scheme also features an amphitheatre with a host of planned events to drive repeat footfall and spend.

With the imminent arrival of Crossrail, Maidenhead is expected to attract a thriving community of business professionals and Waterside Quarter will support the demand for more residential space. Fitting seamlessly into the revitalised Maidenhead skyline, Waterside Quarter offers stunning one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, in the heart of a growing commuter town alongside prime retail spaces.

Levels of investment into Maidenhead have soared with £500m plans to redevelop the Nicholsons Centre approved by councillors earlier this year, offering retail, offices, and mixed-use apartments. Approximately 5,000 new homes are coming to Maidenhead to meet the growing need for housing, including the development of 424 homes in a site historically known as the Landing and another 1,200 homes in the Countryside development.

Katherine Croom, Managing Director of Sorbon Estates said, “Whilst creating this new retail, food and leisure quarter in Maidenhead town centre we have taken a selective leasing approach to ensure that any incoming brands are a good fit for the town. There is a great deal of investment being poured into Maidenhead’s transformation and these brands are ideal for Waterside Quarter and the growing local community. Ensuring a diverse and aspirational offering that blends retail food and leisure will enhance the local area and provide an added draw for both residents and visitors to the town.”

Hux Norman, Property and Acquisitions Manager for Loungers UK Limited commented, “We are thrilled to shortly be opening in the Waterside scheme in Maidenhead. Maidenhead has been a target town for us for a number of years, and we believe that Sorbon has produced an exceptional product, which will transform the town centre and create an excellent home for us.”

Jake Chapman, Head Trainer at F45 in Maidenhead, said “We are proud to be able to work with Sorbon Estates on this exciting development in the picturesque setting of Maidenhead. We are thrilled to bring something fresh to the town, as F45 is a real contrast to other gyms.”

Space Retail and Nick Young and Co advised the developer, with the tenants representing themselves.
