COVID-19 live employer Q&A: Reopening Retail

Employment Law and Health & Safety experts are joining forces with the British Independent Retailers Association to discuss the latest developments impacting the Retail sector and answer any questions about reopening your store.

With the Prime Minister recently announcing that all non-essential retailers will be able to reopen in England from 15 June, Ellis Whittam are providing a free live session on Thursday 4th June, from 11:00 – 11:30.

Co-presented by Director of Legal Services, James Tamm, and Director of Health & Safety Services, Nick Wilson, this virtual discussion will explain everything you need to know from a staffing and safety perspective. They will be dissecting all of the major talking points and exploring how businesses in the Retail sector can prepare for a safe and smooth transition to the “new norm”.

The pair will be addressing:

  • The potential employment ramifications of a return to work, including workforce planning, staff absence, test and track guidance, and furlough
  • How you can ensure health and safety due diligence, covering practical control measures, risk assessments and retailers’ legal obligations

James and Nick will be joined by BIRA CEO Andrew Goodacre, who will be offering industry-leading insight on preparing to open, retailing post-COVID-19, and what we can learn from Europe.

With retailers likely to come under the microscope over the coming weeks and months, this 30-minute session aims to keep you abreast of the latest government guidance, help retailers avoid costly mistakes, and minimise any delays to getting business back on track.

James Tamm commented: “To support employers through the evolving staffing and safety challenges COVID-19 presents to businesses, our Q&A session will walk employers through the latest developments and answer any questions you may have, based on the very latest government guidance which businesses must comply with. We will also alert employers to some common pitfalls we see companies likely to fall foul of at this time.”
