Shaftesbury announces Carnaby Together: celebrating sustainable and charitable initiatives

Shaftesbury is delighted to announce that this June, the Carnaby community will come together to highlight and celebrate their sustainable and charitable initiatives from fashion and food, to beauty and fitness.

“Sustainability is at the forefront in Carnaby and we are committed to supporting our tenants and their efforts to be better. Now more than ever we will celebrate the Carnaby community spirit and our brand’s initiatives. We encourage people to engage with Carnaby and support these great charitable and eco-conscious initiatives.” says Simon Quayle, Director, Shaftesbury.

Fred Perry will champion their ongoing collaboration with the Amy Winehouse Foundation with an exclusive Q&A session with one of the charity’s founders, Jane Winehouse. Celebrating 10 years in collaboration this year, Fred Perry makes a contribution to the charity with each collection, supporting their vital work.

“Amy was incredibly proud of the designs that she produced with Fred Perry. Carnaby and Soho were places that she loved, so it’s great that the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Fred Perry have teamed up to be part of the #CarnabyTogether campaign. Bringing people together is what Amy was all about.” says Jane Winehouse, Founder of the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

In between feeding staff at London hospitals, Netflix star Asma Khan from Darjeeling Express will host an exclusive at home cook-along.

“It is wonderful that at a difficult time like this Carnaby Is highlighting charity and sustainability. The economic impact of the pandemic has left many families in very vulnerable positions and there has been a lot of public support for NHS staff working on the frontline and many restaurants have been donating meals to hospitals to show their appreciation.” says Asma Khan, Chef and Owner, Darjeeling Express.

Neighbouring Soho brands are also taking part with Soho Together:

Oliver Spencer will be speaking exclusively in a video Q&A around the brand’s sustainability approach.

“I’m seeing a noticeable shift in the way small businesses in Soho are now approaching sustainability. Everyone knows each other’s business here, which is great because then we can create some momentum. At Oliver Spencer, our aim is to eventually produce entirely ecological collections, which essentially means only using organic, recycled or environmentally sustainable fabrics from socially progressive providers that we trust. There’s a long way to go before the message gets across, but small brands can be nimble and really make a behavioural difference when it comes to consumer choices.” says Oliver Spencer, Founder.

Bleach London will run a variety of exclusive videos and salon expertise for some home hair care and Axel Arigato will give a behind the scenes look into the brand.
