Cadogan launches e-cargo bike to support local retailers in the lead-up to Christmas

In a bid to help Chelsea’s community support local businesses, Cadogan, which manages 93 acres of Chelsea and Knightsbridge, is boosting local retail businesses with the launch of its zero-emission e-cargo bike service.

As part of the £15 million+ Business Community Fund Cadogan announced earlier this year to support hospitality and retail businesses during the pandemic, the e-cargo bike enables residents to shop from retailers across the neighbourhood and have their purchases delivered free of charge.

Many retailers – including independents currently have staff in-store to fulfil virtual gifting consultations or ‘Call/Click and Collect’. Now, with the eco-friendly, free local delivery service, customers are able to order confidently from the comfort of home while supporting their local bricks and mortar stores.

The service will continue to run post-lockdown until Christmas Eve for those who would still rather, or need to, shop from home. It is a free service to both the 120+shops across the Cadogan Estate (primarily King’s Road, Pavilion Road, Sloane Street and Duke of York Square) and their customers, for those who live within a three-mile radius.

With orders insured to a value of £10,000, every Christmas essential, from ham and turkey from the local butcher, to toys from Trotters or even a silk tie from Hermes can be swiftly delivered in time for the holidays.

Hugh Seaborn, Chief Executive of Cadogan, says: “We are firmly focussed on ensuring local businesses have as much support as possible in the lead up to Christmas. This e-cargo bike service encourages residents to carry on supporting local stores through virtual shop consultations and then free eco-friendly delivery to their home, whether food from the local butcher and baker or luxury gifts from Sloane Street. We hope that it will also be used by vulnerable residents who may be unable to get to shops in December, giving them an easy way to continue shopping locally rather than relying on global giants like Amazon this festive season.”
