At this year’s Retail Design Expo, British Gypsum will be showcasing its latest innovations on stand T20, including its Gyproc Habito plasterboard, which can enhance the design and build of retail spaces.

Throughout the two-day show, British Gypsum will be demonstrating the suitability of its Gyproc Habito plasterboard for the retail sector, as well as allowing visitors to interact with its Magnetic Plaster and experience an award winning Virtual Acoustic Reality (VAR) demonstration, which is being held in conjunction with acoustic engineering specialists Cundall.

Gyproc Habito provides greater strength and durability than standard plasterboard, supporting 15kg of weight with a single No. 10 woodscrew. It transforms a wall into a working element of the retail environment and reduces the need for pre-planned and pre-installed pattressing, meaning interiors can be redesigned time and time again without the constraint of locating fixtures and fittings – perfect for seasonal promotions.

The robustness of the plasterboard also reduces the on-going maintenance of retail stores, protecting against knocks and damage that comes with a public space. Using this solution, walls look smarter for longer – a plus for image conscious retailers.

Matthew Sexton, Non-Residential Sector Manager at British Gypsum said: “This is the first time we are exhibiting at Retail Design Expo and we are looking forward to showcasing our products including Gyproc Habito. We understand that stores are constantly redesigning shop floors and displays, in order to keep up with the latest trends and customer expectations. As such, we have developed Gyproc Habito to revolutionise the way the retail sector is adapted; it speeds up installation and allows for heavy items to be fitted to the wall easily, reducing the requirement for plywood pattressing.

“During the exhibition we will be showing visitors just how easy it is to reconfigure a retail space with Gyproc Habito; at the beginning of the show we will have a retail outlet set up on the stand, and then every few hours there will be a live demonstration of switching it to another type of retail outlet – confirming just how quickly and efficiently an interior can be changed.”
