As the plans to re-open the iconic Bobby’s of Bournemouth begin to take shape, Verve Properties, the developers who also recently transformed the nearby Avenue Centre, are delighted to announce plans that will see the around 260 job opportunities created, to work within the much-loved building.

Within the Beauty hall, Ice Cream Parlour, Drool – the Food Hall for dogs, the food and beverage outlets, loading doc and management, 260 people will be employed as the store opens up in the summer. This headcount will continue to grow as more elements of the store open up over 2021-22

The official recruitment drive will launch soon, but applicants interested in sending over a CV ahead of that time are welcome to email

Previous Debenham’s staff who worked at the central Bournemouth location are being given priority consideration to potentially be employed by Bobby’s in newly created jobs.

The recruitment drive will be implemented ahead of the first parts of the newly restored iconic Bobby’s opening mid-July this year (2021). First to open will be a traditional ice cream and coffee parlour, followed within weeks by the official phase one opening which will welcome Bobby’s Beauty Hall, an art gallery, and a dog café in the Lower Gardens. More elements of the Beauty Hall will be added during the summer.

The next phase, later in 2021 will see a Food Hall, a Sushi and plant-based Poke Bowl Bar, treatment rooms, and female and male grooming. The watch repairing station ‘In Time’ which had been situated in the Debenhams that previously occupied the site be retained – these elements with the exception of grooming are hoped to be open for Summer 2021, with more elements are planned all the way through the year and into 2022.

Ashley Nicholson Director of Verve Properties says, “Bobby’s has historically always been at the heart of the town centre and the community and so we’re truly delighted to be able to bring a good news story of job creation to our high street when so many retail areas across the UK are in decline. We can’t wait recruit a crew who will help us make Bobby’s part of a town centre that really does serve the local community.
