Asendia Group acquires wnDirect as part of global eCommerce strategy

On Tuesday 26th February Asendia UK and wnDirect attended The Delivery Conference – TDC Global in London. This was the first outing for both companies following the acquisition of wnDirect by Asendia Group, as the companies will now merge to create a new, larger e-commerce focused business. The conference provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss what the acquisition means and to explore the new opportunities.

Simon Batt assumed the role of CEO of the new combined company from 1st January 2019. The two companies will, over a period of time, fully merge and operate under the single brand of Asendia UK.

Speaking about the acquisition Simon Batt, CEO said: “Asendia and wnDirect were seen as a very good fit as their strategies and ambitions are aligned and, together, they offer a much broader range of e-commerce, mail and fulfilment services. With wnDirect now onboard, customers will benefit from new options including wnDirect’s global commercial delivery network, and innovations including PUDO (Pick-Up-Drop-Off) and Return solutions, which we’ll offer to our customers in the UK and worldwide.”

Marc Pontet, Chief Executive Officer of Asendia Group: “We are delighted that wnDirect is joining the Asendia Group. wnDirect is a perfect complement to our existing business. On behalf of all of Asendia’s 1,500 staff around the world, as well as our shareholders Swiss Post and Groupe La Poste, I welcome the entire wnDirect team to Asendia.”

Formed in 2012 the Asendia Group is a joint venture between Group La Poste and Swiss Post, and has a presence in 15 countries. The merger will create a larger e-commerce focussed business with an expanded range of delivery and postal services, mail solutions and fulfilment capabilities. wnDirect are global e-commerce delivery specialists and two-time National Business Award winners. They have disrupted the international e-commerce distribution market since launching in 2011; the company has grown rapidly and has a leading cross-border commercial delivery network via best-in-class partners, and a range of innovations.
