Independent retailers anatomē and The Wearer take space at Islington Square

Cain International (‘Cain’), the privately held investment firm led by Jonathan Goldstein, has agreed two new leases with anatomē, the creator of botanical and nutritional supplements, and The Wearer, an established jewellery boutique, at its contemporary mixed-use development in north London, Islington Square.

anatomē was launched in 2018 by Brendan Murdock and the team works with expert nutritionists to produce supplements from organic, botanical and scientifically proven ingredients. anatomē has stores in neighbourhood-centric locations, such as Chiltern Street in Marylebone and on Kings Road, Chelsea. At Islington Square, visitors will be able to discuss their wellbeing concerns, such sleep, immune support or stress aides through alternative natural medicines.

The Wearer has already been based in Islington for five years, before taking space at Islington Square. The boutique specialises in local, independent jewellery brands and most of the jewellery is hand made by designers in their London studios and then finished at Hatton Garden, demonstrating the support for London’s creative community. The Wearer also sells sustainable and ethically produced jewellery and has a transparent supply chain, meaning almost all materials used by the designers are recycled and stones are ethically sourced and conflict-free.

Neil Barber, Retail Leasing Director at Cain International, said: “Islington is known for its diverse range of high quality and independent retailers and this is something that we celebrate at Islington Square through a fresh and exciting offer of brands and businesses. The role of experience and creating connections in physical retail has never been more important, and both anatomē and The Wearer offer something unique and put customer experience at the heart of their businesses, aligning perfectly with Islington Square’s ethos. They will be an excellent addition to the roster of fantastic retailers at the development and we very much look forward to welcoming them in the coming months.”

Brendan Murdock, Founder of Anatome, said: “We have discovered that during the pandemic customers have been seeking out a place they can visit to discuss their wellbeing concerns.” says founder, Brendan Murdock. “Whether it’s a lack of sleep, supporting immune health or finding ways to destress, as an alternative medicine brand we are uniquely able to provide advice through our own-house team of nutritionists supported by a focused collection of products to support wellbeing. Islington Square is the perfect location and in many ways a destination to support family and loved ones.”

Rachel Richards, Founder of The Wearer, said: “We love the combination of contemporary and historical at Islington Square and its great to be part of their eclectic mix of local independent and larger retailers. My customers have been really supportive of the move. They enjoy the variety on offer and are looking forward to seeing which brands will join us.”
