Today, Westfield London launches its first ever Christmas rental store – A Very Rental Christmas – where you can rent everything you need for the festive season.

Curated by television presenter and Christmas lover, Laura Whitmore, A Very Rental Christmas will stock everything that you need for a perfect Christmas at home this year,  allowing you to deck the halls with some of the Laura’s favourite trends of the season. The store offers everything from eco-friendly potted Christmas trees, a range of decorative lights, traditional and modern decorations and stunning tableware to create the ultimate table for six. All proceeds from the store will go towards the centre’s charity partner, Save the Children who will also be stocking (get it!) silly seasonal sweaters to rent for their Christmas Jumper Day campaign.

The new concept store was created in line with the rising rental retail trend, as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s new How We Shop research reveals that nearly half of UK millennials (44%) are looking to rent something festive this year. Trees (40%) and decorations (38%) were the most requested products along with board games (30%), Christmas jumpers (28%) and table settings (28%). Moreover, the research found that Londoners (40%) were more likely to opt into the rental retail trend than any other UK region and over eight in 10 (84%) of UK consumers are interested in renting home amenities.

Working in partnership with a team of interior stylists, Laura Whitmore who has a passion for homeware, curated the store inspired by the top interior trends of 2020. The four trends are:

  • ‘Japandi’, a trend inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese minimalism
  • ‘The Great Gatsby’, a blend of glamourous gold and brasses to give the perfectly sophisticated party feel
  • ‘Monochrome Romance’, a fresh approach to the timeless monochromatic palette, adding bold accents colour like rich red
  • ‘Dreaming of a White Christmas’, the timeless classic of the Christmas looks that never goes out of style

A Very Rental Christmas will open online on the Westfield London website from Monday 30thNovember until Sunday 13th December. Visitors can book a virtual consultation with a home stylist, browse and rent the trends and make the most of the Click&Collect service from the centre. The store will then open its doors in line with government guidelines on Thursday 3rd so customers can browse in person and walk away with everything they need for an Insta perfect Christmas.

The virtual stylist sessions, VIP previews and private consultations will be available to consumers on 1st and 2nd December for free to add that extra sparkle for those who prefer to browse from the comfort of their own home.

From potted Christmas trees available to rent from Christmas on the Hill to an extra sofa or dining table for visiting relatives from furniture rental specialists Harth, A Very Rental Christmas has all your additional needs covered for the festive season.

Laura Whitmore comments: “This Christmas, creating the perfect festive atmosphere at home will be more important than ever as more people celebrate at home. I’m so excited to have curated A Very Rental Christmas at Westfield London, the first ever Christmas rental store, to bring together the most amazing seasonal trends in one place. I love the idea of renting things we only use once a year – it’s more sustainable and also means you can try out new styles of decorations each year, which I love to do. This year I’ve gone for a Great Gatsby theme on my tree.”

Scott Parsons, Managing Director UK & Italy for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield comments: “Westfield London launched the UK’s first physical fashion rental store in 2017. The trend has escalated since then, with recent Westfield’s How We Shop research revealing the appetite for Christmas rental amongst consumers. We’re always looking at ways to innovate the shopping experience and create unique ways to deliver what our customers want. Whether it is to support sustainable products and services, catch up on lost shopping days in November or to allow shoppers to trial products without having to store them for the rest of the year, A Very Rental Christmas Store is sure to be a huge hit this year.”

Explore the full collection of trends on the Westfield London website now. All rented items will need to be returned to Westfield London on the 9th and 10th January 2021.

Click & Collect hours are 4-8pm on the 1st and 2nd December. Find out more about Westfield London’s health and safety measures here.
