Springfields Outlet and Leisure continues to grow year on year reinforcing its position as one of the best in the country on the back of 16 years consecutive sales growth bar Covid. The highest weekly sales on record were achieved twice during the December that saw monthly turnover increase by +9%. All anchor stores traded positively on 2021 where weekly sales have consistently delivered double-digit growth (by as much as 21%), culminating in the Winter Clearance Event, starting on Boxing Day which saw the turnover soaring +23% on 2021: Christmas late night shopping turnover after 6pm increased +13%. The Winter Wonderland Christmas Walk was so popular, it sold out weeks in advance creating a huge waiting list. This event, together with the popular November fireworks, made Springfields a massively popular and repeat family destination for the whole region.

To start the New Year off with a bang, Springfields Outlet & Leisure are delighted to announce that Cadbury Outlet has signed up to open a brand-new store at the Spalding location providing the shopper with a full Cadbury experience. The unit will undergo a full premium fit out, which will include a bespoke hot chocolate and luxury ice cream station selling Cadbury’s favourite flavours bringing to Springfields the UK’s no.1 consumer brand with the Cadbury chocolate range.

“I am delighted to be welcoming the Cadbury Outlet to Springfields, as it reinforces the location as a high-quality destination and shows the continuing improving quality of retail as we sign up high tier brands. Springfields was chosen because of the strong family-oriented footfall, driven by the unique blend of retail and leisure, and Cadbury recognise that turnover is growing relentlessly. This generates higher spend per sq ft and provides visitors with a brilliant high-quality experience”, said Ian Sanderson, Director of Springfields Outlet and Leisure and SLR Outlets.

Despite the looming recession, the Winter Clearance Event figures show that visitors are more likely to opt for an outlet such as Springfields, where retailers are offering substantially discounted high-quality items – a sale in an outlet. This combination is proving to be extremely popular with turnover in the first week of January lifting +29% v last year, and +42% on pre-pandemic levels.

Springfields’ unique mix of retail, leisure and 25 acres of award-winning gardens is the winning formula for retail destinations today. Conceived, developed and asset managed by SLR Outlets for the UBS managed Triton Property Fund LP, this combination is exactly what guests are looking for. Giving everyone what they want with a perfect shopping experience set in an uplifting healthy green environment. A great mix of sensory experiences coming together to deliver positivity and enhancing visitors’ mental health.

All segments are showing growth with very strong results for fashion, athleisure, and home and garden. The food and beverage sector is also booming with restaurants and cafés extending visitor time and spend.
