TRINITY LEEDS NAMED BEST NEW DEVELOPMENT AT ICSC INTERNATIONAL EUROPEAN SHOPPING CENTRE AWARDS

Shopping centre wins Best New Development (Large) for projects over 45,000

Trinity Leeds, the only major shopping, dining and leisure destination to have opened in the UK in 2013, has been named Best New Development (for projects over 45,000 m²) at the ICSC European Shopping Centre Awards.

Presented in Istanbul last night, during the ICSC European Conference, the awards recognise the very best developments in retail property.  Trinity Leeds joins an elite group of destinations that have been judged as ‘the best European centre of the year.’

Lester Hampson, Head of Retail Development at Land Securities comments: “We are delighted to have been recognised by such an established international body as the ICSC and are proud of the success Trinity Leeds has seen since it opened in 2013. Establishing ourselves as one of the go-to destinations in Europe has cemented the belief in the project as we continue to attract a diverse portfolio of brands which is testament to the strength of belief in the scheme and the city as a whole.”

Trinity Leeds has attracted more than 22million visitors in its first year and celebrated its first birthday last month.  The £400m scheme has also contributed to bringing over two million additional visitors to Leeds City Centre. It showcases over 100 independent, national and international brands, over half of which are new to the city. Victoria’s Secret, Mango, Apple, Superdry, Next, Armani Exchange, Top Shop and River Island have been joined in the last 6 months by Primark, which has opened a 107,000 sq ft flagship store in the scheme.

The scheme is now recognised as the UK’s most digitally enabled mall; with its focus on providing a technology-enabled digital experience through interactive video walls, iPad enabled customer service, a mobile App and free wi-fi for all seamlessly linked to reflect today’s shopper needs.

Trinity Leeds was also named Retail Destination of the Year at the 2014 Oracle Retail Week Awards last week, beating stiff competition from finalists including Westfield Stratford City, Bullring, Birmingham and The Crown Estate, Regent Street.
