The Mall Fund supports Independent Retailer Month

The Mall Fund, asset managed by Capital & Regional, have signed up to support Independent Retailer Month, a ‘shop local’ campaign which will run throughout July with the aim of highlighting the importance of smaller, local, and independent retailers.

Independent Retailer Month is a global campaign supported by various partners including the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA). Throughout the month of July, campaign organisers will work to ensure towns and cities across the country are aware of the independent retail sector and its place in the wider retail industry.

The Mall’s portfolio includes a good proportion of independent retailers and this campaign is in-line with the Mall’s aim to engage with and support communities and local businesses within the towns its centres are based.

The Mall will highlight Independent Retailer Month via facebook and twitter as well as its website and signage in its shopping centres.

Mark Bourgeois, Managing Director for Capital & Regional, commented: “The Mall portfolio comprises centres which always aim to meet local shopper needs and ensure a good range of retailers is available.

“It is also important that we support the local economy and independent retailers are a key contributer to the success of the towns we are based in. We are very proud to be supporters of Independent Retailer Month as it continues to recognise and promote the vital role smaller businesses play in retail. It compliments our own annual campaign ‘The Retail Factor’ where we aim to find the next new budding retail entrepreneur.”

Clare Rayner of Independent Retailer Month, added: “We appreciate The Mall Fund supporting our campaign. Our objectives are to empower the independent retail sector and help stores engage with shoppers and to have the backing of a community focused landlord is a coup for us.”
