The Estée Lauder Companies launch “The Estée Lauder Companies Retail Management Programme”

The Estée Lauder Companies UK & Ireland) in collaboration with the Fashion Retail Academy (FRA), is launching an accredited “Estée Lauder Companies Retail Management Programme”; offering retail managers the chance to achieve a nationally recognised bespoke qualification in Strategic Retail Management – a first for the cosmetics industry.

The programme, developed and delivered by the FRA with accreditation recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (OFQUAL), will launch at the beginning of August 2015, making The Estée Lauder Companies UK & Ireland  the first cosmetics company to undertake such a partnership with the prestigious FRA.

The programme will be available across The Estée Lauder Companies’ brands to selected high performing, high potential Counter, Business or Retail Managers and where appropriate, Assistant Counter/Business Managers that have been with the company for one year or more.

The six-month programme has been designed to recognise and build the unique skills that today’s Beauty Managers need as leaders of large, high volume accounts working in a multi touch-point consumer environment. With consumer shopping experience changing dramatically over the last ten years through cross-channel purchasing – The “Estée Lauder Companies Retail Management Programme” will address this head-on; providing the knowledge and skills required to service consumers how, when and where they want.

The FRA has established itself over the last ten years as the leading provider of vocational training for the fashion retail industry.  With its unique partnership between industry and academic specialists, the FRA has collaborated with The Estée Lauder Companies to develop a unique programme covering a broad range of topics.  This aims to enhance the customer experience across all retail touch-points whilst at the same time promoting retail as an aspirational and progressive career.  The programme includes units on developing relationships, finance for non-finance managers and customer service.  Managers will study marketing intelligence and the impact of the digital world on consumer behaviour; principles of retail space management and measuring return on investment, as well as leadership skills and crisis management on the shop floor.

Rebecca Day, Head of HR for The Estée Lauder Companies UK & Ireland commented: “At The Estée Lauder Companies we are very proud of the unique opportunities we offer in career progression from on-counter roles to Senior Executive level.   We are the only premium beauty group to offer this unique proposition.  At The Estée Lauder Companies we believe retail should be seen as an aspirational career, and our aim in launching the programme is to dispel many misconceptions around shop-floor roles whilst at the same time illustrate the fantastic opportunities for career development.  Today’s retail beauty professionals are front-line marketeers, customer relationship managers and consumer insight experts; and The Estée Lauder Companies ’ unique offering looks to hone these skills by giving managers a unique opportunity not just to excel in their current role but to progress within the organisation. “

Lee Lucas, Principal of the Fashion Retail Academy commented: “Over the past decade we have trained and secured employment for many thousands of new entrants to the sector, and additionally our work in developing fit for purpose training programmes for brands across the globe continues to be in demand. We are delighted to be the partner of Estee Lauder Companies in the design and delivery of this exciting programme.

With the evolution of retail and consumer behaviour almost half of businesses state that managers need updated skills and a similar number cite customer management skills as an area of increased need. Through this unique programme, participating managers will develop these and other new skills that will not only bolster the impact they bring to the brand but also support their future career progression within The Estée Lauder Companies. “

The training programme will be delivered at the Fashion Retail Academy in Central London once a week, and will run from the 4th August 2015 with a break for peak trading over the holidays – 29th March 2016.
