The Cornish Fishmonger streamlines deliveries with web innovation from NetDespatch

Intelligent web software from NetDespatch is streamlining the despatch of fresh fish from Wing of St Mawes’ new online store, saving up to twelve hours of manual data entry a day during peak periods. The Cornish Fishmonger ecommerce website uses the Magento shopping cart system integrated with the NetDespatch web platform for automatic booking of parcel collections, on-site printing of shipping labels, end-to-end track and trace and proof of delivery of orders.

The Cornish Fishmonger went live with the integrated system in November 2011 and was able to process the extra fivefold demand for fresh fish for the Christmas period without employing more staff. NetDespatch completed the integration of the ecommerce system with the real-time booking and tracking web service quickly and easily over the Internet, with the technical support team providing telephone guidance and support throughout the process.

“We have over 10,000 customers across the UK who use our website. These are mainly private individuals, with a few hotel and catering wholesale customers who also like to use the web system. With the increasing business we were accruing, it became clear to us that we had to automate the process and we are pleased to report that the integration with NetDespatch is incredibly cost-effective and it saves a huge amount of time,” says Robert Wing, MD.

Prior to the NetDespatch-Magento integration, it was necessary to take the order information from website, enter it all into the manual despatch system and then print the shipping labels. Now, the company has a live system that provides a seamless, direct interface between its online store and its courier, APC Overnight, represented locally by Carn Logistics.

“The system has enabled us to enter the home delivery market in a very easy way. We can handle large volumes of high-value orders simply, from a transport point of view, as it provides a direct and automated link from the online store to the APC Overnight service. It allows us to process the orders quickly and ready them for despatch so that they arrive with the customers by 12 noon the next day. Our fresh produce business relies on quality of service. This is provided by the automated systems that allow our customers to place orders quickly and conveniently and the premium APC service ensuring consistent fresh delivery,” says Robert Wing.
