SPAR UK simplify PCI DSS compliance with point-to-point encryption payment solution

Commidea, the UK’s leading managed service payments provider and part of the Point group, has provided convenience store chain SPAR UK with Ocius Sentinel, a complete point-to-point encryption payment solution, to simplify its PCI DSS compliance requirements and safeguard its customer’s card payment data.

As SPAR UK continues to grow, it will use Ocius Sentinel to tackle the dangers associated with the capture, transmission and storage of sensitive card data by removing the need to store the cards unique security information on its network.

Roy Ford, Retail IT Controller at SPAR UK comments, “Along with compliance, one of the most influential factors in selecting Commidea was its cost-effectiveness – an asset that many of its competitors were unable to offer. The complete managed service has really helped the way we do business and given us tools to help us attain all the information we need. In the coming months and years, we are also now able to adopt a wide range of services that Commidea is able to facilitate, which gives us and our customers more options than ever before.”

Roll out of Ocius Sentinel has begun and it is expected that SPAR UK will be using in excess of 2,500 terminals by the end of 2011. In the future, SPAR UK will also be able to offer its customers extra benefits in the form of value added services, such as e-top up, mobile vouchers and contactless payment technology.

Ian Rutland, Managing Director of Commidea, said, “The SPAR project verifies that the industry recognises the security and compliance benefits that come with a PCI DSS compliant managed service payments provider.  Commidea’s award winning Ocius Sentinel solution continues to be an industry leading payment solution and is proven to simplify PCI DSS compliance for UK retailers”.
