Sign & Digital UK returns to NEC Birmingham from 19th – 21st April 2016 delivering creativity, innovation and choice for the retail sector.
Sign & Digital UK will return from the 19th to 21st April with more than 200 leading suppliers and a range of show features designed to showcase innovation and inspire creativity.
This year’s show will offer more than ever for those working in or supplying to the retail sector. Growth markets such as textile printing for interiors and fashion, soft signage, display systems and on-screen digital signage will be represented by an extensive exhibitor lineup. In addition, the free-to-attend seminar programme, which takes place every day throughout the show will feature sessions of particular interest to visitors from the retail sector.
2016’s theme – Creativity, Innovation and Choice, will be the driving force behind this year’s show experience. Sign & Digital UK is dynamic, fast moving and driven by innovation and the latest technologies – a unique marketplace which offers a wide range of choice and inspiration for visitors to the show.

Shimmerdisc Sequin Display is a new exhibitor for 2016 and will be showcasing photographic quality shimmering brilliance. Using thousands of light-reflecting discs to create inspiring, eye-catching moving image displays, each disc is individually printed, creating pixel perfect images. Shimmerdisc can be used in a variety of situations, from Boardrooms to Theatres and from Retail POS to Outdoor Displays. Visit them on Stand K12.
Returning for 2016, William Smith will be showcasing its new edge-lit POS display system on stand C52. Quick Stand features LED technology that allows individual illumination of each display panel, making for an intensely bright and vivid visual impact.
Planning your visit
This year’s show will see the launch of two new features, both of which will enable visitors to create a tailored and personal show experience. A schedule of live demonstrations will be available to pre-registered visitors during the run up to the show, allowing visitors to see equipment in action and put their questions to the experts. Also new for 2016, an online meeting booking facility will help visitors to schedule appointments with exhibitors throughout the duration of the show.
2016 Seminar highlights
In addition to being able to source the latest products and services at this year’s show, visitors will also be able to attend a free programme of seminars and workshops taking place every day. Running across five theatres, these sessions will cover everything from business advice to the latest developments and updates in software from Adobe, Corel and CADlink.
The ever-popular Adobe Theatre returns for 2016 and will feature free daily sessions on the latest software editions including – Adobe Bridge CC, Totally Colour Managed, Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe InDesign CC and Adobe Illustrator. Highlights for this year include the ‘Create anything you can imagine’ workshop, which will look at the exciting new creative tools available on Adobe Photoshop, and ‘Bigger. Bolder. Better’, which will preview the new features of Adobe Illustrator.
Combining a range of practical workshops and product demonstrations, the 2016 Corel Theatre is a must-attend for designers. Sessions will include ‘CorelDRAW® Graphics Suite’, which will provide an overview of new features, and CorelDRAW® PHOTO-PAINTM which will demonstrate how to get the perfect photo for any design project.
Wide-format design and production software specialists, CADlink Technology, will present a series of seminars in the SignLab Theatre. Sessions include the ‘Introduction to SignLab’, where visitors can experience the advantages a true sign making software solution can have on daily design and production workflows. New for 2016, ‘SignLab v10: Faster. Easier. More Powerful’ is a must see presentation for anybody who uses the software.
Back by popular demand, the Signmakers’ Workshop, presented by expert signmaker Paul Hughes, will offer visitors the opportunity to learn some of the industry’s most in-demand skills. These free sessions will cover the basic application of vinyls, vehicle livery as well as a Q&A session.
Seminars in the Business Theatre will offer practical skills and advice. This year’s topics include “Exploring interior wall décor” and “Innovation in wayfinding and directional signage.” The interior décor sessions on Tuesday 19 April will feature a series of customer case studies from Hollywood Monster, Vinyl Impression and Signbox, allowing visitors to learn from the best practice these award-winning companies. The wayfinding seminar on Thursday 21 April will explore how signage design and typography can create clear and concise wayfinding. Speakers include representatives from CCD Design & Ergonomics, Trade Signs, Identity Signage and FRA using case studies from projects at Exchange Quay, Salford and The Grand Central Shopping Centre, Birmingham.
