Selfridges enters the shop-online-collect-in-store race

Selfridges enters the shop-online-collect-in-store race with a best-in-class service and gears up for global trading.

Selfridges will launch its first click and collect service on May 9 in all its four stores – London Oxford Street, Manchester Trafford and Manchester Exchange Square as well as in the Birmingham store situated in the Bullring.

After the launch of Selfridges’ transactional website in spring 2010, Click&Collect is the brand’s most important and most sophisticated online service development to date.

Selfridges’ Click&Collect is the brand’s considered response to the growing demand from customers to be offered greater shopping flexibility mixing the convenience of online shopping and the practicality of collecting ordered goods at a time and place to fit their busy schedules.

With Click&Collect, Selfridges’ customers will be able to shop online every day until 4pm and collect the following day from the dedicated collection point as soon as the doors open at one of Selfridges’ four bricks-and-mortar stores. No other department store or retail chain offers such an early collection facility.

The flexibility of the service allows for customers to pick which day, within 7 days of ordering, they would like to collect their goods at their preferred Selfridges store’s dedicated collection point. The London store also offers 30 minutes complimentary parking when collecting goods and the dedicated collection point was created to have direct access to the car park for maximum convenience and speed between a customer’s arrival and the collection of their goods.

As part of the service, customers will be able to ‘try before they fly’ any item of fashion and accessories ordered online. Additional services include carry-to-car and the ability to continue shopping online from iPads at the dedicated collection points or choose to browse directly in-store.

Selfridges’ outstanding new online development with Click&Collect is the first of two major expansions of Selfridges’ transactional site capabilities. The second, to come later this year, will see Selfridges go global and offer its famously unique and wide-ranging product mix to customers around the world.
