SATCoL Celebrates Success at the Retail Systems Awards

Toshiba TEC Europe Retail Information Systems and long standing solutions partner azurri were Highly Commended in the IT Project of the Year category at the Retail Sysems Awards, for their work with the Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL), where industry leading electronic point of sale (EPoS) solutions were installed across the organisation’s 140 charity shops.

Now in their seventh year, the Retail Systems Awards recognise excellence and innovation in the field of information technology within the UK’s retail sector. They offer the opportunity for companies to receive acknowledgment for the work they carry out to help organisations achieve growth and deliver efficient management. This year’s judging panel comprised renowned industry experts and thought leaders who were faced with the tough task of deciding who would walk away with the prestigious awards.

The Toshiba and azurri entry focused on the successful rollout of EPoS equipment for SATCoL – the Salvation Army’s retail division. Formed in 1991, SATCoL is a leading textile and clothing collection company, operating a network of over 5,000 recycling banks collecting clothing, shoes and household linens.

SATCoL wanted to replace its shops’ cash registers with a modern PC based EPoS system. They selected azurri because they offered a totally managed service.  azzuri is a long established supplier of EPoS solutions to both the general retail and charity sectors, working with organisations of all sizes.

Toshiba TEC’s EPoS equipment is highly respected for its robust, reliable hardware and low cost of ownership. The new solution has enabled SATCoL to automate its sales and financial processes, and make its communications more efficient via the EPoS solution’s email facility.

On the night of the Retail Systems Awards SATCoL were thrilled to receive a Highly Commended accolade.  Beverley Phillips, SATCoL’s Finance Director and Company Secretary, commented on the recognition; ‘Being acknowledged amongst such stiff competition is an amazing achievement, and we are very proud of the impact that the new EPoS technology has had on the Salvation Army retail stores. Working with azurri is always a pleasure and I’m delighted that SATCoL has earned, for the charity, an additional £100,000 Gift Aid revenue during the first twelve months of the EPoS system being installed, which is continuing to grow.
