Retail Trust Search for a Star competition

People from up and down the UK who work in retail have auditioned across the UK in an attempt to become the next winner of this year’s Retail Trust’s Search For A Star competition. Solo singers and vocal groups have all been hand picked to be the TOP 50 acts.  Now their fate lies in the hands of the voting public…

The TOP 50 will be performing live at the Brent Cross Shopping Centre on 30 October where they will be singing their hearts out from 10.30am to mid afternoon in an effort to win as many votes as possible. But it’s not just the public they have to face:  The event’s MC will be ITV1’s Mark Heyes, Capital FM’s Rich Clarke and X Factor’s Laura White will also be there to judge and give their opinions to the voting public.

If consumers cannot make the live show, each of the performances will be available to view at where solo acts, duos, groups, ballad singers and even grime artists made it through as well exciting boy and girl bands.  The public can vote for their favourite act by texting ‘STAR’ and the act’s number to 70099.

The 10 acts with the most text votes will then perform in a secret London location in front of a celebrity judging panel. The final four acts will perform live at the Retail Trust London Ball on 31 January 2011 where one of the acts will be crowned Retail Trust Search For A Star Winner 2011.

The competition acts as an engaging and involving way of raising funds for the charity to help look after those in need from a retail background, whilst at the same time celebrating the talent hiding in and around some of Britain’s best known shop fronts. Retailers with at least two acts in the TOP 50 include Debenhams, Disney, House of Fraser, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and New Look, as well as representatives from the supermarket multiples Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons.

The prize consists of a meeting with top music industry figure heads at Mercury Music Group, recording their very own single courtesy of Imagesound, a VIP treatment staying two nights at 5 Star Grosvenor House in Park Lane, a live performance at Heathrow Terminal 5 which will be beamed across World Duty Free’s Media Channel and a live performance in House of Fraser’s Oxford Street store window in London.
