Retail Trust raises £120,000 at the Retail Trust Grand Scottish Ball

On St. Andrew’s Day key brands of the retail sector demonstrated their dedication to Retail Trust, the only charity devoted to looking after everyone working in the industry, by donating £120,000 at last night’s Retail Trust Grand Scottish Ball sponsored by Land Securities.

The last year has been a turbulent time for retail staff and their employers with the Retail Trust Helpline 0808 801 0808 reporting a 128% increase for their counselling services alone.

The sum raised at the Hilton came from some of the country’s best known retailers including Debenhams, House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, Chanel, BrightHouse, M&S, and Primark. The Scottish Lifetime Supporter Award went to Per Neuman of Estée Lauder.

Nigel J L Rothband, Retail Trust Chief Executive, said: “Threats to the retail sector, and therefore retail staff, have never been higher. We need to ensure we act as a safety net for all people in retail who need us and that we have funds and services in place to help them. In the past year we have helped redundant retail staff, those affected by the UK riots, families that have been the victim of tragedies and many more issues. The money raised tonight will help us to help retail staff in need throughout Scotland.”

Celebrities in attendance amongst the 400 who supporting Retail Trust on the night included ITV1’s Style Guru Mark Heyes, Ultimo tycoon Michelle Mone, Miss Scotland, Miss England.
