Retail Roundtable first for May Design Series

High profile retailers to lead roundtable forum at May Design Series

In association with The Furnishing Report, some of Britain’s best-known retailers will lead a retail forum at this year’s May Design Series.

At 12pm on Sunday 18th May at London ExCeL, experts from leading furniture retail brands: Furniture Village, Archers Sleepcentre, Dwell and Occa Home will sit down with 50 other retailers to share their knowledge in a candid session exploring key elements of the trade –such as e-commerce, product selection, business strategy, managing rapid growth and sustainability.

The sessions will welcome an impressive line up of recognised industry names including Malcolm Walker, Trading and Buying Director at multiple retailer Furniture Village; Ian Archibald, Managing Director of multi-channel success story Archers Sleepcentre, Kate Mooney, CEO of online design store Occa Home, and Aamir Ahmad, co-founder of comeback kings Dwell.

Retailers attending the May Design Series, which takes place at ExCeL from 18th-20th May, can sign up to attend the Roundtable Forum by following this link, for up- to- the minute information and industry insight.

Richard de Melim from The Furnishing Report commented on the new forums: “Independent retailers will gain a lot from these round table sessions. Almost by definition, independents know their own minds and are used to making decisions alone or within a close knit group. Some will be buying group members – who often share knowledge – but the opportunity to share insight and discuss industry issues with a broader group of retailers can only strengthen their decision-making and strategic processes.

“There are some issues that affect all kinds of companies, whether a retailer is local, national, public or privately owned, stores based, multichannel, or online only. These range from the political, such as how retail property is taxed, to the structural, with the continuing change in the way shoppers research and buy their furniture. All retailers face these issues irrespective of size or route to market.”

May Design Series 2014 will amass close to 400 exhibitors in 5 distinct sectors right through from Furniture, Decor, Lighting [including ARC], Kitchens & Bathrooms and DX. The Furniture Show at May Design Series, new for 2014 will welcome a preview of what is to come in 2015 -the destination for new products covering each interior space.

May Design Series will run from the 18-20 May at London ExCeL. Visit to register for your complimentary pass.
