POPAI Awards 2012 Winners Announced

A glittering evening with more than 400 attendees saw the cream of the UK retail marketing industry’s efforts rewarded. The POPAI Awards 2012, sponsored by Momentum Instore, took place last night in London’s Park Lane Hilton. A audience of 465 marketers, P-O-P creative agencies, manufacturers and digital providers gathered to celebrate some of the best P-O-P designs of the year.

London-based Circlesquare claimed an unprecedented double as it bagged the night’s top awards for Display of the Year in both Temporary and Permanent categories. The Innovation award went to Kärcher and Marins UK Ltd for the Kärcher Window Vac TX Lamá display, while the Sustainability award went to The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company and HRG (UK) for the MiracleGro Merchandiser display unit. This year’s awards also saw the introduction of a new Multichannel & Campaign category, with Gold won by McDonald’s and The Marketing Store for the McDonald’s Triple Play Monopoly campaign.

Opening the award presentations, POPAI UK & Ireland director general Martin Kingdon said: “Now in its sixth year, the POPAI Awards has become a shop window to the very best in P-O-P excellence. Winning a POPAI Award is deserved validation and recognition of the efforts made by clients and suppliers within the industry to keep pushing new boundaries in retail marketing.

With a record 218 entries competing in a total of 20 categories from across the industry, winning an Award in 2012 is undoubtedly going to be harder than in any previous year. So whatever the colour of the POPAI Award received – Gold, Silver or Bronze – an Award is a clear sign of P-O-P excellence at its best. We also set a new record for the number of non-member entries – Proof that the POPAI Awards truly are the Industry’s Awards.”
