New Hed Kandi store by JHP

Following the success of Hed Kandi’s capsule range in collaboration with Miss Selfridge last summer, Hed Kandi opened its first stand-alone store at Bluewater in August, designed by design consultancy JHP.

Hed Kandi launched as a record label in 1999, and is now established as a global clubbing force with its lavish club events that take place in all corners of the globe. Combining music and fashion has been a natural step for the brand. The brand appointed JHP in early 2010 to create a store concept that will launch the brand in high footfall UK retail locations.

The Bluewater store is located on lower Thames Walk and spans 1,400 sq ft, and it embodies the spirit and lifestyle of Hed Kandi.

‘We have created a ‘designer boutique’ store feel mixed with a young ‘club’ dynamic. Whilst the store interior spaces are simple, collectively they will make up a very dramatic space,’ explains Raj Wilkinson, JHP joint managing director. ‘Elegance’ and the use of height are the key drivers. The store concept features a mirror ball slot in the ceiling and a continuous mirror brick frieze set at high level around the perimeter. With materials of gold, matt black, reflective surfaces and a cream floor, the store’s interior acts as an inspirational backdrop for the store’s ‘must have’ products.’
