NAS announces the Devonshire Club winner of the NAS Interior of the Year Award 2016
The NAS (National Association of Shop fitters) has announced the Devonshire Club as the NAS Interior of the Year and Leisure Awards winner at the 2016 Design Partnership Awards (DPA). The ceremony took place on 15th September at the glamourous BAFTA Theatre, London.
Devonshire Club, London – 2016 Interior of the Year Award & Leisure Award winner
Awarded for its ambience, functionality, and the creativity of the design, the Devonshire Club truly impressed the judges who all agreed that the concept, look and feel of the club was clear from the very outset.
“We are absolutely delighted about winning not one, but two awards tonight” says Ben Foran, Development Director, ISG. “There are currently no other clubs like the Devonshire in regards to size and scale. The overall ‘feminine feel’ of the club further sets it apart from other establishments. However, the Library Bar for example, one of six bars throughout the club, does include masculine elements as well. It is all about the balance to create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. So far, there was a high membership uptake with both men and women joining in almost equal number.” Phil Armstrong, Development Director, ISG, continues “The Devonshire Club was certainly an interesting project because of the history of the structure, a former warehouse. We wanted for the building to remain authentic, but also include modern elements. I think we achieved it.”
Shopfitting and interior design have been taking on an increased significance as the sector is becoming progressively more competitive. In order to attract and retain customers, businesses need to stand out and create a feel-good atmosphere that draws visitors in. NAS Director, Robert Hudson, said, “The nominated projects and products tonight are a testament to the industry’s ability to provide cutting-edge fit-outs, and demonstrate the immense talent it has to offer. For the first time, we have welcomed non-NAS members and international entries, as we are aware of the importance of sharing knowledge and delivering best practice throughout.”
