Middleton Grange Shopping Centre Takes Tourism and Leisure Award

 

Efforts to drive and support tourism in Hartlepool have been recognised as Middleton Grange Shopping Centre received a top accolade in the town’s annual Business Awards.

 

The honour commended the Centre’s partnership approach and good practice in driving and supporting tourism and leisure activities in Hartlepool with Mark Rycraft, Centre manager receiving the award from the town’s MP Iain Wright.

 

Cushman & Wakefield managed Middleton Grange is an in-town, covered shopping centre, which acts as a community focal point for local residents whilst serving as a shopping destination for visitors.  Middleton Grange provides an innovative and distinct experience for customers and the Tourism and Leisure award comes on the back of a number of previous awards including: 2011 Purple Apple PIP winner; Green Apple Environmental Award 2010;whilethe Centre’s marketing manager has made it to the SCEPTRE 2012 shortlist with winners announced later in the year.

 

Centre Manager Mark Rycraft commented:“Following in depth consumer research, we have focused on enhancing the customer journey and appointed new directional signage externally and internally and a new brand identity was also developed.

 

“We have worked with Hartlepool Borough Council to offer visitors free parking on Sundays and after 4pm on weekdays.  Following investment into training, crime has been reduced by 80% and we have funded the Shop Mobility Service with an investment of more than £25,000, making customer visits accessible and beneficial.

 

“Middleton Grange was a key supporter and actively involved in the Tall Ships Races steering group and we are committed to and involved with various visitor economic groups and support the development of tourism in Hartlepool and the Tees Valley.”
