Lingerie industry raises more than £50,000 for Retail Trust & FTCT

Outstanding support from the Lingerie Industry raises more than £50,000 for Retail Trust & FTCT

A host of celebrities and the retail glitterati were at The Savoy last night for the spectacular Contour Fashion Ball. More than £50,000 was raised for Retail Trust and the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust.
The sell-out event saw host Mark Heyes – TV and celebrity style guru – keep the room thoroughly entertained. Celebrities were out in force including Caprice, TV presenter Carol Smilie and former tennis star Annabelle Croft who were all on sparkling form. Veteran fashion tycoon Harold Tillman also attended the event.

The Contour Ball is the annual event for the lingerie and intimate apparel sector, and is sponsored by Fashion Forms, with the silent auction being sponsored by INVISTA, owner of the LYCRA® fibre brand, and the photo booth sponsored by Wacoal Eveden.

Sharon Webb, Chair of the Contour Committee and Head of Buying and Design – Lingerie at Debenhams, said: “The Committee worked tirelessly to make this event a major success – and this is reflected in the fundraising and the same people attending year after year. With this being our 52nd Contour Ball, the event is steeped in history, but raises money for two very relevant and modern charities that help those most in need in our industry.”

Richard Boland, Retail Trust Chief Executive said: “This is a key date in our fundraising calendar. I am so immensely proud of the work carried out by the team and the support we can offer those in need. We just could not do it without the generous support of those who attend our events.”

Retail Trust is the only charity that looks after the needs of all 3 million people working in retail. It currently provides financial grants totaling £874k – a 34% increase over the last year – to people working in, or who have worked in, the retail industry or associated businesses. Retail Trust has increased the provision of external professional counselling, debt advice and legal advice by 26% in the last year.
