EuroShop // JAPAN SHOP Shop Design Award

Enters its Second Round

Messe Düsseldorf and Nihon Keizai Shimbun will be jointly organising the design contest “EuroShop // JAPANSHOP Shop Design Award” under the auspices of the German Embassy Tokyo, the Japanese Consulate General Düsseldorf and the EHI Retail Institute and with the support of numerous Japanese associations from the design area.

The competition aims to honour excellent Japanese store design that makes a reference to the country’s traditions and reflects the essence of all things Japanese. An international jury headed by Professor Hiroshi KASHIWAGI (Professor at the Musashino Art University and curator of the exhibition “Wa – the Spirit of Harmony” at the red dot design Museum in 2009) will select the winners in a two-stage procedure in the categories “General Competition (Realised Projects)” and “Design Ideas”. The winners will present their designs early next year at EuroShop, the leading international trade fair for retail held in Düsseldorf from 16 to 20 February 2014, and at JAPANSHOP held in Tokyo from 4 to 7 March 2014.

The competition was organised for the first time on the occasion of EuroShop 2011 and received a broad-based response already at its premiere: the category Realised Projects saw 174 entries and the category “Design Ideas and Proposals” saw 57.

The deadline for submitting entries to the 2nd EuroShop // JAPAN SHOP Design Award this time is 1 July to 31 August 2013; the contact is Messe Düsseldorf Japan’s office in Tokyo: www.messe-dus.co.jp.
