DECOREX IS ONLY DESIGN TRADE EVENT TO MEET SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA

As part of UBM’s on-going commitment to improve its sustainability credentials, it is on track to successfully meet the objectives set for Decorex International to attain the ISO 20121 Standard for Sustainable Event Management. This would mean that Decorex is the UK’s only design and interiors show to achieve this accreditation.

Throughout 2015, Decorex has been considering the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability to ensure it delivers a positive legacy.

As part of this, Decorex has switched to using recycled paper for all its show materials; it’s working with all contractors to ensure the successful application of the waste hierarchy – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – to the build of the show; it has closely monitored the impact of the show by calculating its carbon footprint to identify and implement improvements; as well as supporting the charity, Fine Cell Work, a social enterprise training prisoners in paid, skilled, creative needlework. In addition, Decorex has provided all 400 exhibitors with the necessary guidance to help them adopt a more sustainable approach to business.
