Canopy company expands

Following 20% sales growth last year, Mark Parry has joined outdoor canopy company Zapp as its new managing director to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company. Mark, who has a background and experience in the wider retail environment with companies such as Tesco, provides new energy and focus to take the Zapp business forward.

Two new business streams are to be added to the company’s core activities of stylish, smart and practical canopies with accessories for restaurants, cafés, pubs, hotels, and market trading.

Zapp has come a long way since the company was established some twenty seven years’ ago, as founder Rod Turvey explains, “In the early ‘90s we bought a one-product company selling market trader stands and today we have grown this to a huge portfolio of umbrellas, awnings, canopy systems, pop-up marquees and trailer stalls with a host of related accessories such as tables and lighting.”  He adds, “We are delighted to be working with many big name brands, local authorities and private market operators up and down the country.”  Rod continues to work with Zapp as chairman of the company now focusing his efforts on design, product development and business strategy.

Zapp is renowned for its quality products and service and for providing bespoke solutions to any customer with individual branding being an important aspect.  The company has recently supplied some key projects such as Princes Quay in Hull, Clarks Village in Street and is currently shipping to the London Borough of Greenwich for the regeneration of Woolwich market place.

Later in the year, Zapp plans to launch a new product into the architectural market and to develop online sales in its existing markets.
