BARGAIN HUNTERS FLOCK TO WEMBLEY PARK’S LONDON DESIGNER OUTLET FOR OPENING WEEKEND

London Designer Outlet has announced that it welcomed 85,000 shoppers over the course of its four opening days 24 – 27 October 2013. This news follows Thursday’s launch which exceeded all expectations, attracting over 21,500 shoppers with discounts up to 70% below high street prices, as well as opening day festivities and promotions.

From Nike to Superdry, retailers reported great trading conditions over the weekend. Alongside a strong performance from the shops, the centre also saw high volume traffic for its leisure facilities. These include a nine-screen Cineworld – the only cinema in a three-mile radius – and a variety of restaurants offering food from across the globe.

At launch, 80% of the centre was leased and brands such as Guess, Phase Eight, Skechers, Villeroy & Boch, M&S Outlet, wagamama and Pizza Express were open for trading.

In total, 32 shops and restaurants were open on day one, and this is anticipated to double over the next two months with a further 27 brands scheduled to open,  offering Christmas shoppers superb discounts on current-season lines.

James Saunders, Chief Operating Officer for developer, Quintain, said: “London Designer Outlet attracted enough people over its first four days of trading to fill our neighbour, Wembley Stadium! That’s a huge vote of confidence in the Capital’s first outlet centre and, with the number of fantastic brands open doubling as Londoners start their Christmas shopping, we expect this strong demand to continue.”

With 10.4 million people living within a 60-minute drive of the centre, and 782,000 people within 20 minute drive, London Designer Outlet has the largest catchment density for any UK outlet.

Retailers and restaurants open on launch day included: Adidas, Asics, Bjorn Borg, Cabana, Caffé Nero, Cineworld, Clarks, Costa, Daniel Footwear, Denby, Gap, Guess, Las Iguanas, M&S, Nike, Pizza Express, Phase Eight, Pret a Manger, ProCook, Skechers, Superdry, TGI Fridays, Tog 24,  Trespass, Villeroy & Boch and wagamama.

London Designer Outlet is part of Quintain’s Wembley Park, the major development around Wembley Stadium that will combine outstanding entertainment, shopping, leisure, new homes and public spaces, creating a new destination for London.
