Back to the 80s as The Mall Walthamstow celebrates its 25th Birthday!

Get into the groove and join the party as The Mall Walthamstow celebrates its 25th birthday today!

It’s been a quarter of a century since The Mall Walthamstow first opened its doors to shoppers.

Back then on 14th October 1988 the Mall, then called Selbourne Walk Shopping Centre, opened for the first time to the Waltham Forest community – where did all those years go?

To mark the milestone The Mall Walthamstow is staging its own birthday party this weekend and want shoppers to join in the fun!

Alasdair Currie, General Manager, The Mall Walthamstow said: “We are delighted to have reached such a momentous milestone.

“To celebrate our 25th Birthday we’re hosting an 80s themed party in the centre on Saturday 19th October 2013 and everyone’s invited.”

There will be plenty to keep shoppers entertained and everyone is being encouraged to get into the party spirit and dress up for the event so dig out those deely boppers and shoulder pads!

Amongst the fun and games on offer, shoppers have a chance to show off their slick dance moves along with friends, family and neighbours who will be busting some shapes to the fantastic 80s disco; playing all of the hits from the decade that spawned Live Aid, music show The Tube, Ra Ra Skirts, legwarmers and the TV phenomenon that was Dallas.
There will even be prizes for best fancy dress and a prize raffle, plus much more happening on this special landmark for everybody connected to the Mall.

Shoppers are also being encouraged to share their memories and photographs of the Mall on its Facebook page,    https://www.facebook.com/themall.walthamstow#!/themall.walthamstow  where they will also see lots of other information from the depths of the Mall archives in the lead up to this grand event.

See you there!
