Axis demonstrates how surveillance can benefit retailers at Retail Business Technology Expo 2012

Axis Communications, a global leader in the network video market, will be at Retail Business Technology Expo 2012 demonstrating how retailers’ CCTV network video can provide so much more than just security by using applications that help to improve store layouts, optimise merchandising strategies and increase operational efficiency.

Network video, also known as IP surveillance, is enabling retailers to improve the profitability of their stores by helping to significantly reduce shrinkage, improve security and at the same time provide an even better service for their customers.

Atul Rajput, manager of business development, Northern Europe at Axis Communications said: “Retailers are currently facing some of the toughest challenges yet. Sales have fallen, competition is fierce, margins are low and internal theft is on the up.

“IP surveillance is revolutionising the way retail professionals work with loss prevention, store optimisation, fraud detection, security and customer service.

“It is therefore crucial for retailers to maximise this investment and adopt a smarter approach to both loss prevention and store operations. Axis surveillance solutions have been installed in retail environments around the world and with our experience and proven track record in network video technology, we are keen to demonstrate how we can work with retailers to enhance their security and add real value to their businesses.”

During the event Axis will be demonstrating three of its newest cameras, all of which are ideal for retail environments. These are the AXIS P8514 Network Camera which provides eye-level placement for identification of faces and which can be can be covertly pre-installed for indoor video surveillance; the AXIS Q1604 Network Camera which provides superb image quality as well as enhanced wide dynamic range capture and the AXIS M5014 Network Camera, a palm-sized HDTV pan/tilt/zoom camera for remote and discreet monitoring of indoor areas.
