Argos Celebrate Their 1,500th Apprentice Achiever
Argos and their apprenticeship provider, First4Skills, are marking the milestone of their 1,500th apprentice.
Matt Scotney, Customer Fulfilment Manager in the North East, Wallsend Silverlink store was honoured with the 1,500th apprenticeship accolade. Matt has completed his level 2 and 3 apprenticeships and has also continued his development through taking part in the Argos Retail Academy level 1 and 2 programmes.
After working with apprenticeship and work-based training provider First4Skills for four years, Argos are proud to demonstrate their commitment to these qualifications – shown through the successful numbers of completed apprenticeships in the company.
Speaking of Matt’s impressive apprenticeship journey, his store manager Stephen Brown said:
“At the time of Matt joining the store we were trialling the new Fast Track Delivery proposition. We were one of three stores to be doing this so that in itself brought additional pressure and expectation on the new role he had undertaken. Matt was the first ever customer Fulfilment Manager in Argos, a role he has embraced since day one.
“Matt’s taken a massive step into the world of management and over the last year he has experienced and been a part of one of the most exciting journeys the company has undertaken. His commitment to his personal development has been nothing short of amazing and he continues to grow into a great leader. Matt will be the first to admit he has had some setbacks along the way and has found the new role challenging and a stretch at times, however his resilience has come to the fore and has used these challenges to his advantage hitting them head on and making him a stronger leader.
“Well done Matt, we’re extremely proud of you and will look forward to supporting you into the next phase of your career.”
Lucy Crowther, Argos’s Head of Retail HR said of their successful apprenticeship programme:
“We are so proud of our Argos Retail Apprenticeship programme and what we have achieved over the last four years. Starting from a small trial on the Manchester and Lancashire and North Midlands Regions to now achieving our 1,500th apprenticeship completer. I see apprenticeships as an integral and important part of the business.”
“Many of our fantastic apprentices have used this learning experience to start their career with Argos and have been successful in gaining a place on other Retail Academy programmes and promotion into senior store roles. This year is about growing on our current success and encouraging more colleagues to take part and attain a qualification while at work.”
Amanda Kerr, Head of Client Services at First4Skills said:
“We’re so proud to see Matt receive the accolade of 1,500th achiever. It’s not only a fantastic achievement for Matt but also for the successful partnership between Argos and First4Skills. As a work-based training provider, we at First4Skills love nothing more than seeing the difference apprenticeships make not only to a business but also to the individual and how they really open doors for future careers.”
