AGENDA & FURTHER SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR WIRED RETAIL
October 29th, 2015, London. WIRED today announces the final main stage speakers, as well as the draft agenda (subject to updates) for WIRED RETAIL, Together with Valtech – the second annual one-day summit focusing on the future of retail, being held on November 23, 2015.
Newly confirmed speakers on the main stage include Yariv Bash, founder and CEO of Flytrex, who will talk about drone-delivery options, regulation and technologies – and solving the “last metre” problem; Steve Callanan, CEO and co-founder of WIREWAX, who will discuss connected video and a future where content is immersive and “shoppable”; Siavash Ghorbani, CTO and co-founder of Tictail, who will explain the move to intuitive messaging platforms where your phone becomes your CRM; Bastian Lehmann of Postmates, who will highlight the competitive advantage that innovative delivery platforms bring to retailers; Anisha Singh, co-founder and CEO of mydala, who will tell us how she built an e-commerce giant leveraging mobile data to drive retail of over $600 million annually for merchants across 209 Indian cities; and Billie Whitehouse, founder of Wearable Experiments, who is building desirable wearable tech to bridge in-store and mobile ecommerce.
With the sector being rapidly transformed by the impact of accelerating technologies, WIRED has drawn together influencers from virtual reality to robotics, and bitcoin payments to mining receipt-data for insights. WIRED RETAIL will gather dynamic speakers who will take the audience into the future.
Individual themes and speakers within each session include:
· RETAILERS WON’T BE THE ONLY ONES RETAILING
Steve Callanan, CEO and co-founder of WIREWAX, will discuss connected video and a future where content is immersive and “shoppable”; Si Brown, co-founder & CMO of skignz, a geolocation-based augmented reality (AR) platform, will explain how AR could play a role in the future of retail; Stefan Siegel, founder & CEO of NOT JUST A LABEL, who creates extraordinary retail experiences – recently taking over an iconic department store in Berlin for online retailer Zalando – and bringing pop-ups into the digital age.
· DELIVERY AS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
Jo Bertram, who leads Uber’s UK, Ireland and Nordic operations, will speak on the lessons learned from the platform’s staggering success; Bastian Lehmann of Postmates, discusses the competitive advantage that innovative delivery platforms bring to retailers; Yariv Bash, founder and CEO of Flytrex, will talk about drone delivery options, regulation and technologies – and solving the “last metre” problem.
· ECOMMERCE GIANTS SHARE THEIR STORIES
Anisha Singh, co-founder and CEO of mydala, will tell us how she built an e-commerce giant leveraging mobile data to drive retail over $600 million annually for merchants across 209 Indian cities; Robert Gentz, co-founder of Zalando, will explain how the company’s radical agility is allowing them to help retailers innovate, and why he went backpacking during their IPO.
· COOL TECHNOLOGIES EXPLORED, INCLUDING WEARABLES, VR AND 3D PRINTING
Billie Whitehouse, founder of Wearable Experiments, is building desirable wearable tech to bridge in-store and mobile ecommerce; William D McMaster, head of VR at Visualise, who is pioneering 360-degree video, will speak on the future of VR, drawing on his work with the British Army, Thomas Cook and Mercedes Benz Formula 1; Bram de Zwart of 3D Hubs will address how the retail supply-chain will be transformed when mass production goes the way of the music industry – becoming digitised and on-demand.
· COMMERCE IN THE CLOUD AND INTO ORBIT
Paul Clarke, director of technology at Ocado Technology, who is designing Ocado’s next highly automated fulfilment centre – with robotics and smart machines – and moving the company’s services into the cloud; Ken Denman, president & CEO of Emotient, will explore how facial recognition and sentiment analysis could turbocharge customer service when fused with sales receipts, iBeacon technology and other data; James Crawford from Orbital Insight will discuss how satellite and drone imagery is impacting retail. For example, satellites can monitor supply chains or analyse revenue by car-park activity.
· PAYMENTS: A FOCUS ON MICROPAYMENTS, THE PHONE AS POINT OF SALE AND BUYER IDENTITY
James Allgrove, head of UK growth for Stripe, which is enabling a world where the phone is the transactional device, will explore how that will change customer behaviour; Sebastian Siemiatkowski, co-founder & CEO of Klarna, which 50,000 merchants and 35 million consumers use, will talk about micro-payments and monetising customer loyalty; Cristian van Tienhoven of Amazon Merchant Services. With Amazon now not only in the checkout business but the check-in business too, van Tienhoven will explain how behaviour analysis can help build trust – for consumers and retailers.
· STORYTELLING TO AUGMENT RETAIL EXPERIENCES
Siavash Ghorbani, CTO and co-founder of Tictail, will talk about the move to intuitive messaging platforms where your phone becomes your CRM; Jessi Baker, founder of Provenance, which is building the future of consumer trust in brands. She will discuss how the Provenance platform uses blockchain technology to verify products and their manufacturing processes.
